Afraid Of Eating The Wrong Thing

Do they try to make it confusing on purpose? I can't identify 3/4 of the stuff on the ingredients lists. I got list from Nini and TCA (thanks guys!) but it's still so confusing. For example, if I can have Yoplait yogurt does that mean any flavor/kind as long as it's Yoplait? What about Pringles potato chips? Can I have them? What about all the different flavors and kinds (low-fat, fat-free, etc)? I'm sorry everyone but I'm getting really frustated. I've found I'm not the world's best cook and can barely fry up a hamburger.

You still need to read the ingredients list on the label to see if they've changed since the list was made. If there's anything questionable, write down the word to check on it and don't buy it until you're sure.

One of the best things you can do when you are first gluten-free is try to limit the amount of processed foods for a bit. It can make things much less stressfull. To my knowledge all yoplait yogurts are safe but the pringles are a no no. I get Lays stacks they are from a dedicated facility and state no gluten. They are heavily loaded with lots of not so great stuff though so I do limit the amount I eat. If I have any doubt about a product I ALWAYS call the company. If there isn't a phone number listed I don't take it home. One of the bonuses to this is that a lot of companies will send you their current gluten-free lists and also coupons. It can be challenging especially at first but it is so worth the trouble in the end.

Thanks Scott. They are gluten-free but cross contaminated.

Hi there @MCAyr I have a small umbilical hernia which came about during my second pregnancy.   I can just about see it, and feel it, when I stand or sit, but it is far less noticeable when I lie down.  I always know when I am putting on weight because I can get pain and burning near the site, funnily enough not on the hernia itself but either side!  I would imagine bloating could cause the same effect as weight gain. In my case I don't think it is my bowel protruding but a bit of fat  - sorry,  I realise this isn't painting a very pretty picture.  But in truth it is scarcely noticeable.  It has never really got bigger in size. I was rather hoping that it could be operated on but here in the UK they don't seem to operate on every hernia anymore.  My GP isn't remotely worried about it. In a way, I should be thankful - it is like an early warning system that I need to go on a diet! Cristiana

The hernia description would likely be unrelated to celiac disease, but you'd need to get it checked out by your doctor to be sure it's a hernia.
