My son is turning one and I am making a choc cake from Bob's Red Mill flour and I need a frosting recipe.

Anyone have a good one?

Thanks.

Hi, I don't make my own I use store bought. Some of them are gluten free. If you choose to buy any just read the ingredients in the store and then double check by calling the company. They always have a statement ready for what is gluten free. Certain companies will even tell you that all of there products specifically name any allergens which is helpful to know.

Here's a recipe--

1/2 cup butter

1/2 cup shortening (I use all shortening--dairy free)

4 cups confectoners sugar

1 tsp. vanilla

1/4 cup water, milk or milk sub

Beat together, adding more liquid if necessary.

You can make this chocolate by adding 1/3 cup pure cocoa powder to the sugar.

I always use this frosting with chocolate cake . . . it's a nice flavor combination. It's really fast to make, too. Of course, it's only good if you can eat dairy . . .

Cream Cheese Frosting

8 oz. cream cheese

1/2 c. margarine or butter

1 lb. powdered sugar

1 tsp. vanilla

Cream the cheese and butter with a mixer on high (until all lumps are gone). Slowly mix in the powdered sugar. Add the vanilla and mix well. This spreads best if it's close to room temp, but you want to store any leftovers in the fridge.

Hope you enjoy it!

Thank you. I must have misinterpreted a study or something. Thank you for the clarification. Much appreciated. Almost three years into my celiac diagnosis and I'm still learning new things.

I wasn’t clear, glucagon and gadolinium were intravenous. I drank about 5 cups of the prep during 45 minutes. I feel very tired now, probably partly because I was nervous, and partly because I had to fast for 6 hours beforehand and wasn’t very hungry when I got home.

That seems at lot of solution to have put threw you when you already have bowel issues , I will phone them tomorrow because it's sorbitol I have reactions too, thankyou for the input how do you feel now ? I'm not sure I can keep still for that long with my back issues either unfortunately I didn't know it could take that long 😕

The solution I had to drink contained sorbitol and mannitol. I was in the MRI, lying on my back, for about 40 minutes. I was given glucagon partway through, and a gadolinium contrast agent. After I got home there was some diarrhea from the prep solution.
