I bought my Women's One-A-Day (Sundown brand, Eckerd's), and I reread the label today. I discovered that it contains only 25% calcium. Any gluten-free calcium supplements out there?

I have found that Now Vitamins (most of them, if not all) do not have gluten in them. Look at there website at Open Original Shared Link.

All Nature Made vitamins are gluten-free - I used them for years before finding out I had celiac disease - just bought some calcium w/Magnesium and Zinc a couple of days ago, in fact. I prefer that brand because they're available everywhere and reasonably priced.

Viactiv Calcium Chews are gluten-free. Not sure if ALL the flavors are, but I eat the chocolate ones and it is MUCH better than swallowing a HUGE tablet.

*just a note, not ALL naturemade vitamins are gluten-free. You have to read the label and it will state if it is gluten free.

Hey, Jessica - thanks for the Nature Made info. Guess I got some bad info - I don't even remember now where I heard that they were all gluten-free. I'm going to check with them on the ones I take.

The vitamins of Nature Made that are Gluten free directly say "Gluten Free" on the bottle in bold letters :) They are an awesome company that actually tells us what is safe and what is not . :D Hope that helps.

Yes, we have been aware that this can be an issue with mushrooms but as long as they are rinsed thoroughly it should not be a problem since the mushrooms don't actually incorporate the gluten into their cellular structure. For the same reason, one needs to be careful when buying aged cheeses and products containing yeast because of the fact that they are sometimes cultured on gluten-containing substrate.

      The one kind of food I had been buying and eating without any worry for hidden gluten were unprocessed veggies. Well, yesterday I discovered yet another pitfall: cultivated mushrooms. I tried some new ones, Shimeji to be precise (used in many asian soup and rice dishes). Later, at home, I was taking a closer look at the product: the mushrooms were growing from a visible layer of shredded cereals that had not been removed. After a quick web research I learned that these mushrooms are commonly cultivated on a cereal-based medium like wheat bran. I hope that info his helpful to someone.
