Shampoo

Does someone have a safe list for shampoo like there is one for food brands? I never thought about shampoo until I noticed mine had hydrolyzed wheat protein in it. Also, I read in an old post that "especially those with DH should avoid it." Why more so than those with GI symptoms? Would someone with DH react to gluten-containing shampoo through the skin? I thought the blisters were all an outward manifestation of internal reactions. ??

(Still learning)

My shampoo also has hydrolyzed wheat protein in it and oat proteins. I asked my doctor(s) about it and they said that unless I have DH, I don't need to worry about those ingredients (although we do still need to watch lip balm, lipstick, etc.). He said that I would need to ingest it in order to evoke a reaction/damage. I am very careful that I don't get any on my face so I can't accidentally ingest it.

Some may disagree or have other expert opinions... I have had two endoscopies and three sets of blood work since being diagnosed - all of which show that the diet is working and levels are very good, so I tend to follow the doctor's insights.

Good luck!

p.s. When I need to find a safe food brand or something of that nature... a google search has been very helpful in locating "micro-sites" that are not easily found on manufacturer's Web sites and in forums... I type in "gluten free" in quotation marks and whatever else I'm looking for (usually a restaurant or brand name) also in quotation marks.

Thank you.. Christina My anxiety is through the roof.  I think it was from eggs.  I really don't know because my eyes feel sore. Like I'm allergic to them.  I was defient in B12.   My heart is pounding and it won't stop.  Not sure what to do.   I don't have much support other than this forum.    Colleen

Thanks rmj when I first rang up it was we can't do it without , but I talked to a lovely lady and she sorted it all out for me, so it pays to be persistent , I would have had to decline if I hadn't been given the water option too , so yes I'm glad too 😌

I’m so glad they listened to your concerns!  I hope you get some answers from the MRI.

Had my MRI today I didn't have to have the manitol with my allergy's , I just had a litre of water , they were great with my concerns , so let's see if anything comes of if will keep posted once I have results 👍

Thank you ,it’s been a long road for me for having both now ,what upsets the most is that if they discovered that I also have cealiac earlier I would not have injested gluten if I was aware. Double whammy.
