Another Bread Question

Kibbie

Recommended Posts

Kibbie Contributor

My grandpa was just diagnosed with Celiac (a few months ago) I have been able to help him on a lot of stuff but bread is what is kiling him.

Unlike the rest of us we doesnt care what his bread tastes like (because he's old and his taster doesnt work so well... his words not mine) anyhow he is looking for a bread that has the same texture as before.

Anyone come across something that would work... even if the taste is off??

Thanks!

I like the glutino texture and taste

Okay, I think I answered this on another post.

I use Kinnikinnick products, they are excellent and usually easy to find.

But the biggest thing to remember about gluten free baking, especially breads, buns etc. You have to heat it to get good texture. Either heat it in a micro, or the best way is to toast it in a clean, gluten free toaster.

So, basically, it's really not so much about the brand, we all seem to have our favourites. It's about heating it before you eat it :P

Hope this helps!

Hi! I like the Ener-G Light Tapioca loaf. But you have to get the light. I found it in Nob Hill Foods & Raleys might also have it. But just microwave it for about 20 secs. & it feels & tastes, like regular bread! I was amazed. :D

I only tried a couple of breads because I didn't like any of the ones that I tired until I found Whole Foods Breads. The texture is great, pretty much like real bread. I am much more of a texture person as well and this one really works for me. Their banana bread is just like the real thing also.

Manna from Anna bread mix fan here. It makes the best textured bread I've found yet!

Tom Sawyer gluten-free products claims to have a flour blend that produces the same texture as wheat flour.

I have not tried it.

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

This is an older article, but may be helpful.

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
