Hi,

This is a local store we purchase from in wisconsin. They are very celiac friendly! They have a section of their store that is all gluten free. Some pasta too. We buy all of our flour from them. The website is Cathysbulkfoods.com. I'm not sure what shipping charges are, but it's worth the look. We save a lot of money there. Hope this helps some of you!

Hi Amy.

We live in Eagle, WI. I have to go to Pewaukee to find most of our gluten-free stuff, but I also order from www.shopbydiet.com. Where is this store you mentioned? Also....are you familiar with any commercial brands of cereal that are gluten-free? There are a few people talking on the board about some General Mills cereals that are gluten-free...but my son and I must have spent about 15 minutes in the cereal aisles of Pick-N-Save and the Super WalMart and found nothing!

Anyways - glad to see another Wisconsinite on the boards. Have a great night!

Wow, that looks great!! Have you tried their brown rice flour? I noticed that have two different kinds--I wonder if either of them is the superfine-grind that eliminates all the grittiness? I do like Authentic Foods brand, but the price is just ridiculous--$11.99 for 3 pounds, on the Authentic Foods website.

Anyway, thanks for posting this--it's great to be able to find out these things!

Cathys Country Store is in Appleton, WI. Also I'm not sure on the cereal. It seems like my daughter gets sick even when companies say their product is gluten free. So, we play it the safe way. We make a hot rice cereal on the stove and add some sugar and cinnamon. If you'd like to know about that I'd be glad to post it for you. Sorry I wasn't much help on the cereal.

Hi,

I have used both. They are ground fine, but I'm not sure what you're used to. Also, I don't think there is a difference between the 2. Glad to see it might be able to save you some money!

I have tried Bob's Red Milll, which is somewhat gritty, Hodgson Mill, which is VERY grittty, and Authentic Foods, which is superfine like cornstarch, but at $4 a pound, I don't want to get it anymore if I don't have to!

I just took it out and felt it. It is powdery like a starch, but you can feel some texture to it. I think it's what you're looking for. Unfortunately I have never used any other brands but what they have at their store. It's all we can afford. Sorry I can't be more help.

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?

Thankyou so much for your words. Its a hard battle when a supposed well known hospital whose celiac " specialist " has down played me because my colon looks fine and put it in my medical and so pcp doesn't take seriously. In their eyes we all carry that gene.Im having alot of bad days trying to be positive because of it.
