Pretty Sure I'm Allergic, But Want To Know For Sure

Hi all,

First I want to share my story of how I came upon this conclusion that I might be allergic to wheat. Growing up as a teenager I had TERRIBLE acne, like really the worst you could get. Acne everywhere on my face, chest and back. Boils, zits and those nasty whiteheads galore. It was terrible! I spent YEARS trying all sorts of treatments but always my acne came back

Eventually, in June 2006 I put myself on a "Detox Diet" recommended to me by a NaturaPath in which I eliminated foods and each week and cleansed my body out. After the program, I felt great and actually noticed a small but noticeable decline in my acne

I decided from that point on to phase out all forms of Dairy and Gluten-based products from my diet. Since then, my acne has cleared up immensely and I have also lost about 60 pounds (But this is more so due to the fact that I've followed a more strict diet and workout routine)

Regardless, my face is much much more clearer. I still have some redness from all the acne I had over the years, and I get the odd, very tiny "white head" pimple now and then but otherwise; nothing

I've now noticed that the few times I DID have gluten or dairy products in the past few months I got reactions. Basically, Id' get a small outbreak, not necessarly on my face so I have much reason to believe something is up

Now I want to get an official treatment by a doctor but I have no idea how or who, or where. I honestly have no urge or reason to go back to wheat OR dairy at this point. I do not miss it at all, but I still want to figure out exactly what I am allergic to

Also, let's say I take an allergy test for wheat, is it possible to get reactions from the tests? I don't know if I want to take a test and then break out in acne just to find this out.

You could test with Enterolab to see if you have an intolerance to gluten and/or casein (the protein in milk). The test is very sensitive and can pick up antibodies for possibly up to a year after you have eliminated gluten and casein.

An intolerance is different than an allergy but could be what you are dealing with.

Thiamax (TTFD) plus a B-complex, and if you want benfotiamine, the Life Extension formula covers that at ~100 mg.

      High fiber can definitely cause sudden GI distress especially if it’s a new addition but accidental gluten exposure can feel similar. Keeping a simple food/symptom log and introducing new gluten-free foods one at a time can really help you spot the pattern.       Thanks for asking  I’m mainly looking for gluten-free staples and snacks. Any recommendations for brands or go-to items would be appreciated.

      sorry a bit confused so I should take my B complex along with Objective Nutrients Thiamax for TTFD but what about a Benfotiamine to take. The Life extensions contains Benfotiamine and Thiamine together or im confusing myself. I am trying to see if I take Thiamax what should I take for Benfotiamine. Thanks EDITING after further research I see ones water soluble ones fat soluble. So I guess 100MG as you suggested of Life Extension contains Benfotiamine and Thiamine Hydrochloride. and the Objective Nutrients Thiamax contains TTFD.     would work for me.

      I put on over 12kg by eating protein with every meal, 3 to 5 times a day. Eggs, Chicken, Tuna, Turkey etc. I stay away from too much red meat as it can be inflammatory. Scott is correct. I've come across a bunch of Coeliac PT's on Tiktok and Instagram. They all say the same thing, the key is getting enough protein and consistency.
