I'm wondering how long it usually takes for tTg IgA to return to normal after being on a gluten free diet. To make a long story short, I was diagnosed at age 2 with Celiac, was gluten-free until age 18 (when a doctor told me I didn't have Celiac after a normal biopsy), then was "re-diagnosed" 2 1/2 months ago after continuing problems and positive blood work. So my GI doctor wants me to recheck my tTg IgA at the 3 month mark of me going gluten-free to "make sure it's back to normal", but will it be normal that soon?? I thought I read somewhere that it usually takes about 6 months to return to normal, but now I can't seem to find anything about that. . .

Thanks!

our ped gi told us to have the girls retested after 6 months---but we have tested sooner than that also. if your gi wants you to test again in 3 months, i'd do it. even if the levels aren't back to normal, you will still get a good indication of how well you are following the diet because they should be down some by then.

@StuartJ, what brand of gluten-free flour did she use?

Congrats! Can you share the recipe? We just picked up a bread maker from an estate sale and are experimenting.
