hi,

recently started taking solgar 5-htp. now, the label says the capsules are wheat-free, which may indicate gluten-free, but im not 100% sure...

whilst googling i found something giving a list of solgar's products containing gluten, hence everything else is gluten-free (5-htp wasnt on the gluten-containing list). however the post dated back to '05 so im wondering if anyone could tell me if solgar 5-htp is still indeed gluten-free

thank you very much and God Bless ;-)

I am not familiar with that. Sorry I cannot help.

If a product indicates wheat free, it is not a guarantee that it is gluten free.

Compliment gratefully accepted. :)

But what is Solgar 5-htp? Perhaps others will know.

I get mine from the Vitamin Shoppe (comes with B6 to aid absorption) or from Whole Foods, both of which say they are gluten free. I haven't bought the Solaray brand.

momma goose. it increases natural serotonin, good for depression etc... im just wondering if its gluten-free

new to LI Newbie

if im not to late 5-Hydroxytryptophan is a "natural" SSRI, and from what i understand it is not effective unless enteric coated. I was also told although B6 is usefull it should be taken at a differnet time then 5-HTP

      Thanks for your input.

If you have hemorrhoids 1x weekly I don't see how you have time to heal from one episode before you experience another one, unless each one is a very minor event. Have you consulted a physician about your hemorrhoid issue? It's not normal to be having an episode every week unless it is really one episode that is not completely healing between weekly flareups.

No I haven't had one since 2021. I rarely have more than 1 per week.

Sorry, I see that now as I reread your original post. You say you have hemorrhoids "only once a week" now. When I develop hemorrhoids, which is once every few years now, it generally takes 3-4 days for healing to take place. So, it doesn't seem like you could have much relief time between episodes if you have them weekly. Have you had a lower GI scoping done recently?

Everyday I eat a medium to large apple in the morning and a large banana at night. I eat a cup of oatmeal in the evening. The ezekiel wheat bread I eat has a good amount of fiber. I haven't dealt with constipation for at least a year. Most of the time my feces are soft.
