Last night i was watching tv, and they showed an commercial for the new tostitoes made with flour. I havent done any reasearch on them yet. But just wanted to see what you all thought about still eating regular tostitoes now that they make a brand with flour. Im wondering if this is why some are getting sick on tostitoes. I am very upset that they decided to make some now with flour when they know so many people in the world cant have gluten.

... and are they making them all in the same facility as their corn ones??

It's probably worth calling the company and finding out if they're made on the same lines or in the same facility or not - if you like tostitos.

It's hard to fault them for adding flour, if those chips do significantly better in taste tests, since 98% (pretty much literally) of their market can have wheat.

I am going to call them when i get the kids off to school, it is much easier to be on the phone with only 2 kids at home then 5 lol.

I know its not their fault if they taste good with flour. Its just that i love tositoes and if they make them on the same lines as the other chips im going to be so heart broken. They are the only chips i have had since going gluten free lol

Well I did call, and they said many of their products are made on the same areas of gluten based prducts, but they do clean them in between products, so there is a chance things can be cross contaimated, but it will be listed on their products.

And they said there is only one plant that is making the flour chips, that is not anywhere by colorado were i live. So i think everyone in different states should call and see if they are by the plant that makes the flour chips.

She did say she will send me a new list of gluten free products in the mail within 7-10 days.

Welcome to the forum, @yellowstone! The most common ones seem to be dairy (casein), oats, eggs, soy and corn. "Formed" meat products (because of the "meat glue" used to hold their shape) is a problem for some. But it can be almost anything on an individual basis as your sensitivity to rice proves, since rice is uncommonly a "cross reactor" for celiacs. Some celiacs seem to not do well with any cereal grains.

What foods can trigger a response in people with gluten sensitivity? I've read that there are foods that, although they don't contain gluten, can cause problems for people with gluten sensitivity because they contain proteins similar to gluten that trigger a response in the body. I've seen that other cereals are included: corn, rice... also chicken, casein. I would like to know what other foods can cause this reaction, and if you have more information on the subject, I would like to know about it. Right now, I react very badly to rice and corn. Thank you.
