Does anyone know of any gluten/wheat free/corn free/ junk foods???

cookies, cake mixes, chips? anything???

my grandmother today bought me some gluten/wheat free cookies that made me very sick. We looked at the ingredients and my mother reminded me that years ago a Dr. told me i was allerigic to corn. which i had forgotten.

this might be why all my symptoms had not gone away. so now I am trying to go on a gluten free / corn free diet.

I can eat kinnikinnick bread. so whatever is in that, is the kind of stuff i guess i should be eating.

but i would like to be able to eat some junk food along with the rest of the family :P

you might want to check out allergygrocer.com. you can search by allergen on there, including corn and gluten.

Hi,

We buy Enjoy Life brand cookies and snack bars a lot for myself and my daughter from the Gluten Free Mall. Arico Foods also makes some good gluten-free/corn-free snack bars - the peanut butter one is our favorite. We often shop on allergygrocer.com and shopbydiet.com because you can search specifically for items that are free of multiple allergens. Cutting out gluten and corn is a challenge when searching for junk food, but it is out there!

Oats naturally contain a protein called avenin, which is similar to the gluten proteins found in wheat, barley, and rye. While avenin is generally considered safe for most people with celiac disease, some individuals, around 5-10% of celiacs, may also have sensitivity to avenin, leading to symptoms similar to gluten exposure. You may fall into this category, and eliminating them is the best way to figure this out. Some people substitute gluten-free quinoa flakes for oats if they want a hot cereal substitute. If you are interested in summaries of scientific publications on the topic of oats and celiac disease, we have an entire category dedicated to it which is here: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/oats-and-celiac-disease-are-they-gluten-free/
