Well, then... a very good welcome to you. :)

drewskie, we are very creative. And you can have your waffles, but with a slight different twist.

Fiddle-Faddle Community Regular

Walmart sells Van's frozen wheat-free, gluten-free waffles, and they taste great with butter and real maple syrup (you can get those at Wlmart, too)!

the first few months (3-4), yes, you'll actively miss them. after that, you'll be nostalgic about them. but you can have waffles and there's no reason not to get yourself a waffle maker and start making them.

Hi Drewskie. I just realized that I'm in the teenagers only section, so I hope you forgive me. I have a 15 yo daughter and 12 yo son who are also gluten-free. It's hard at first, but you and your mom will get the hang of it. My other 2 kids (13 and 9) eat gluten-free at home and we have almost everything that we had before going gluten-free. We just have to make it now.

Trader Joe's and a lot of other supermarkets carry really good gluten-free waffles. Fiddle-Faddle suggested Vans - they are good and you can get them at lots of stores. Lifestream is another good brand - my kids like the buckwheat berry flavor. I'm sure your mom will learn how to make them gluten-free pretty soon. Hang in there!

Just make sure that the waffle maker and bread maker from your grampa has never been used. They need to be totally gluten free.

what mamma goose said - there are some hand-me-downs that celiacs really just can't use. :(

I haven't really missed gluten foods yet. I've gone all out and bought heaps of stuff I can have and lots of the gluten free alternatives of stuff. By surrounding myself with the OK stuff, I never have to search for something to eat and thus find something I want but can't have.

yea the bread maker and the waffle maker havent been used my grandpa doesnt use them and hasnt used them so we r good :P

Thank you for the advice. I’ve actually never checked for nutritional deficiencies, but for as long as I can remember, I’ve always taken vitamin and mineral supplements — otherwise my symptoms get worse. This week I stopped eating gluten to confirm whether my symptoms are really caused by it. Starting next week, I’ll reintroduce gluten — it’s sad to go back to how I was before — but at least I’ll be able to take the necessary tests properly. I think the diagnostic process will be long, but at least I’m happy that I finally decided to address this doubt I’ve had for years.

I finally got rhe answer and Tylenol is ok. Thanks everyone

Hey Julie! I was in a similar situation before my biopsy and my gastro said Tylenol was fine. Just avoid ibuprofen or anything anti-inflammatory until you're cleared. Hope your surgery goes smoothly!

I don't see how cornstarch could alter the test results. Where did you read that?

For pain relief I take a combination of Thiamine (Benfotiamine), Pyridoxine B 6, and Cobalamine B12.  The combination of these three vitamins has analgesic effects.  I have back pain and this really works.  The B vitamins are water soluble and easily excreted.   Hope this helps!  Keep us posted on your results!
