Results Confusion

Hi

I'm confused - positive blood results except endomysium IgA which is negative.

Have read loads of stuff about 'positive predictive value' etc and seems to be conflict between positive IgA tTG and negative IgA endomysium. Any ideas what this means. Gluten sensitive or not ?

Thank you

Rebz

In real life, often celiacs will only hve one of these tests show up positive. I found some abstracts on that at medline.

but there have been people here who only had one of them positive aand they were diagnoses and ogt better on a gluten-fre diet.

My daughter was barely positive on anti-endomesial antibodies, doctor called it borderline. Yet in biopsy her intestine was conclusive for celiac - flattened villi and other characteristic changes for celiac.

response to diet is affirmation in itself.... bloos tests can have false negatives.

thanks for the replies

I guess I am hoping for a negative biopsy and clutching at anything that might indicate that the other results were non-specific or false positives.

I guess its a matter of not feeling ill and thinking of the foods I'll have to find alteratives too. I have a child with a severe nut allergy and that seemed a struggle at the start but now its fine - you adapt and find alternatives.

thanks again

As far as I know and I have made severalonline searches, celiac disease disease has not been recognized as a cause of migraines or any eye problems. What I wrote must have been confusing.

Interesting, when I suffered for a few months with ectopics I noticed that carbohydrates would cause indigestion and bloating in my stomach, then that would lead to my heart skipping beats, and I could feel it in my throat, it was very unsettling.  My last serious bout of this was after eating a Muller Rice Pudding for breakfast.   I happened to be wearing a 48 hour halter at the time and cardiology picked it up, but they weren't worried about what they saw. There was some British doctor who'd made some videos on the Vagus nerve that I remember watching at the time which made sense of what I was experiencing, there did seem to be some sort of connection.

I asked my cardiologist about stopping vitamins.  He said his tests account for all detectable vitamins from sources other than food.  I only need to stop them for a couple of days.  He has me keep records of meds and vitamins I've ingested over the past 10 days and prior and he does his calculations.

Reply to treats I try and eat to bring up the glucose. Sometime I get up 3 times a night and eat something. I don't think food is the issue. A lot of the food they say should help doesn't.  Many mornings my level is 59 and I feel sick, sometimes for hours. It has been recommended I go to an Endocrinologist.
