I have had a bad week. I think i got glutenened on friday, cause i was sick on saturday. Then i have been really tired all week. Then today i woke up with my stomach gurgling really bad and could feel lots of gas in my stomach, Now i have been running to the bathroom every 10 minutes with watery poop(sorry tmi), and im miserable. I have never had poop like this. Is this part of being glutened. or do u think something else could be going on. and what can i do to feel better. Or do u think i have been glutened again since friday.

Know how you feel. I have had the watery stuff lots., but never sure from what as I react to so many things. Do you have other food intolerances? The only thing I know how to do is drink lots of water all day to get the bad stuff out of my system. Hope some of the experts on here have some better ideas!

It could just be a glutening. I am not sure, as I am not an expert, but I get those symptoms when I get glutened really good. Usually not just with cc, but a major cc, those are usually some of my symptoms..

I am sure others will chime in on this.. I guess if you really feel like it could be something else, it couldnt hurt to go to the doc either...

Sounds like a glutening to me. I used to get the watery diarrhea all the time.

I notice on the gene thread you started that you have one of the same genes I do; DQ1, 0602. When I first got my results back, someone here told me that it was more common to have pain and neuro symptoms with that gene. (Which I was having, big time.) I'd say your back pain is probably nerve pain from the glutening. For me, it's usually constant pain in a particular area, usually my back and hips. It sometimes gets bad enough that I get what feels like painful electric shocks. It usually interferes with my mobillity anywhere from just walking funny, to really not being able to walk much.

If you feel like something else might be going on, you should see your doctor. It sounds a lot like me when I get glutened though.

It may be a gluten problem or it could be a reaction to dairy or some other item. I see new items pop up now that did not bother me before. Hang in there.

nancy that is exactly what it feels like. The pain is like in my back and in my hip area. I almost convinced myself i was having an appenditicits. But i know its not that.

My hubby tried to talk me into going to the dr, and i said no way. I did tell him if im still feeling this bad i will go tommorow. I just dont want to go today.

Im wondering if i got sick from fritos last night.

Mother nature also decided to show her head this morning, so maybe it is just an mixture of everything. i just know my heating pad will be my best friend today.

I usually have one or two days of the nerve pain and then it starts getting obviously better. It sucks that you're getting cramps on top of it. I hope you feel better tomorrow.

I am so happy that you said just one or two days. Cause i have an baseball tournament and soccer games this weekend.

Before my husband went to work, he told me he was going to clean the house from top to bottom on friday, and we taking all gluten out of the house. He said he hates seeing me this way and its not worth having bread in the house. That is practically the only gluten we have is the bread and frozen pizzas. He did ask me if he could keep his coors light and i said of course, but he is responsible for throwing away his cans. lol.

I know that whenever I had a lot of frito's they made me sick. CC issues with them. I could handle a little but I don't eat them anymore.

You have a smart husband. Just make sure not to kiss him after he's had a beer. ;)

My husband eats gluten sometimes when he's out, or if he goes out to lunch when he's at work. So he doesn't feel like he's missing out on anything.

Going by my symptoms, I'd say you should be fine by the weekend. Maybe still a little achy, but that's about it. But everybody is different. Fingers crossed for ya.

I have that problem with fritos in quantity and store bought tostada shells. The tostada shells are killer, for me anyway, they taste good but wow, do they make me sick.

@Jane02, I hear you about the kale and collard greens.  I don't do dairy and must eat green leafies, too, to get sufficient calcium.  I must be very careful because some calcium supplements are made from ground up crustacean shells.  When I was deficient in Vitamin D, I took high doses of Vitamin D to correct the deficiency quickly.  This is safe and nontoxic.  Vitamin D level should be above 70 nmol/L.  Lifeguards and indigenous Pacific Islanders typically have levels between 80-100 nmol/L.   Levels lower than this are based on amount needed to prevent disease like rickets and osteomalacia. We need more thiamine when we're physically ill, emotionally and mentally stressed, and if we exercise like an athlete or laborer.  We need more thiamine if we eat a diet high in simple carbohydrates.  For every 500 kcal of carbohydrates, we need 500-1000 mg more of thiamine to process the carbs into energy.  If there's insufficient thiamine the carbs get stored as fat.  Again, recommended levels set for thiamine are based on minimum amounts needed to prevent disease.  This is often not adequate for optimum health, nor sufficient for people with absorption problems such as Celiac disease.  Gluten free processed foods are not enriched with vitamins like their gluten containing counterparts.  Adding a B Complex and additional thiamine improves health for Celiacs.  Thiamine is safe and nontoxic even in high doses.  Thiamine helps the mitochondria in cells to function.  Thiamine interacts with each of the other B vitamins.  They are all water soluble and easily excreted if not needed. Thank you so much @knitty kitty for this insightful information! I would have never considered fractionated coconut oil to be a potential source of GI upset. I will consider all the info you shared. Very interesting about the Thiamine deficiency.  I've tracked daily averages of my intake in a nutrition software. The only nutrient I can't consistently meet from my diet is vitamin D. Calcium is a hit and miss as I rely on vegetables, dark leafy greens as a major source, for my calcium intake. I'm able to meet it when I either eat or juice a bundle of kale or collard greens daily haha. My thiamine intake is roughly 120% of my needs, although I do recognize that I may not be absorbing all of these nutrients consistently with intermittent unintentional exposures to gluten.  My vitamin A intake is roughly 900% (~6400 mcg/d) of my needs as I eat a lot of sweet potato, although since it's plant-derived vitamin A (beta-carotene) apparently it's not likely to cause toxicity.  Thanks again!

Hello, @Jane02,  I take Naturewise D 3.  It contains olive oil.   Some Vitamin D supplements, like D Drops, are made with fractionated coconut oil which can cause digestive upsets.  Fractionated coconut oil is not the same as coconut oil used for cooking.  Fractionated coconut oil has been treated for longer shelf life, so it won't go bad in the jar, and thus may be irritating to the digestive system. I avoid supplements made with soy because many people with Celiac Disease also react to soy.  Mixed tocopherols, an ingredient in Thornes Vitamin D, may be sourced from soy oil.  Kirkland's has soy on its ingredient list. I avoid things that might contain or be exposed to crustaceans, like Metagenics says on its label.  I have a crustacean/shellfish/fish allergy.  I like Life Extension Bioactive Complete B Complex.  I take additional Thiamine B 1 in the form Benfotiamine which helps the intestines heal, Life Extension MegaBenfotiamine. Thiamine is needed to activate Vitamin D.   Low thiamine can make one feel like they are getting glutened after a meal containing lots of simple carbohydrates like white rice, or processed gluten free foods like cookies and pasta.   It's rare to have a single vitamin deficiency.  The water soluble B Complex vitamins should be supplemented together with additional Thiamine in the form Benfotiamine and Thiamine TTFD (tetrahydrofurfuryl disulfide) to correct subclinical deficiencies that don't show up on blood tests.  These are subclinical deficiencies within organs and tissues.  Blood is a transportation system.  The body will deplete tissues and organs in order to keep a supply of thiamine in the bloodstream going to the brain and heart.   If you're low in Vitamin D, you may well be low in other fat soluble vitamins like Vitamin A and Vitamin K. Have you seen a dietician?

I do not know this, but since they are labelled gluten-free, and are not really a product that could easily be contaminated when making them (there would be not flour in the air of such a facility, for example), I don't really see contamination as something to be concerned about for this type of product.
