I just want to say thank you to Momma Goose and all the others that replied to my initial message two weeks ago.

After reading what you all wrote I visited another Dr. for a 2nd opinion as my 1st seemed slightly confused. This Dr. was still a little reluctant to run the blood test for Celiac but after some gentle nudging she did.....and what do you know.....positive!

I would not have sought out another opinion had it not been for those who wrote to me and who knows how long it may have been before being properly diagnosed.

so.....THANK YOU!

Kari

Kari:

You have discovered what many of us on this board know...that MG (Lisa) is extremely wonderful and helpful. She does a wonderful job on this board!

I am so happy that you took the information you learned here and were tested. So many people are undiagnosed for so long, so I'm happy that you shortened the time for yourself. Good for you!!!!!

Be sure to stick around!

Thanks for the welcome! I'm sure that I'll have numerous questions as I'm just a "babe" in the woods!

My Dr. is now referring me to a GI specialist, to go over the blood test results and move on to the "next step>" I imagine you can easily give me a clue as to what those next steps might include.

I'd like to be prepared a bit before I go to the appt. In the meantime, where do I begin? As in learning what is a truly gluten-free diet. There seems to be so much information out there that it's a bit mind boggling!

I'd surely appreciate your help in figuring this out! Again, I say thank you! I was beginning to wonder if I was imaging all this.

Blessings, Kari

Don't go gluten-free yet. It is likely your GI will want to do an endoscopy to confirm the blood test through biopsy and see how much damage has been done. Going off the gluten before this can skew the results. Now is a good time to start learning about the gluten-free lifestyle. Maybe select and order some books from Amazon, do a little research to find restaurants in your area that offer a gluten-free menu, start looking at food labels in your local grocery store to familiarize yourself with what to look for. All this will help when the time comes to go gluten-free.

I went gluten free 3 months before I had anything done and all test and bioposis are negative and all my symptoms went away, If I knew then what I know now I would not have gotten tested. I guess I am one of those people who wants and needs a dx for me to get totally Gluten free, right now I am gluten-free but not toatally, but I watch what I eat and avoid the foods that trigger the D.

My sister has been gluten free for three years now. It used to be that I felt bad for her while I would have cramps much more often than any guy my age (I'm turning 20). Turns out, I too am a celiac and this is my first messageboard. I go to Quinnipiac University and live in southeast Florida, if anybody wants to talk you can email me, I'm just glad to find a community.

After waisted time of new care team, yet again EXHAUSTED saw new gi today in Modesto, though all my ailments im not getting any kind of concern of me being celiac and sentive to just about everything since menopause. Dr daid why don't I go see you guys because my blood shows zero for celiac. I told him im glutenfree since 1994 by colonoscopy with biopsy positive celiac sprue by GI.Its RIDICULOUS when im bringing in material from this site of knowledge as well as the autoimmune institute, and  there's zero interest on their part.Medical IS causing me depression.Im view as a disability chaser, IM STILL RECOVERING from being a bus driver that im still healing and having more issues, now I may have multiple sclerosis or meningioma. Ive reached out, wrote letters, NOT feeling well. This is inhumane.

I was taking medicine for sibo but it was not agreeing with my stomach at all.Was on gabapentin but it amps me up.I was taking in morning because it wasn't allowing me to sleep. This has always been an issue with medicine and me.Even going to dentist, the good shot that numbs you once, I can't take because it makes my heart beat fast and I  get the shakes.I have to take the crappy stuff and get injected always more than 4 times always. Its infuriating

I showed one doctor I went to once because completely clueless of celiac disease and yes that one was connected to a well known hospital and she said oh thats just a bunch of people that think they are celiac coming together. I said um no they have doctors and knowledge behind what is being written. So bay area is Downplaying this site! SADLY

If you successfully digest gluten with enzyme supplements so it won’t give you side effects, your challenge won’t be worthwhile because the digested fragments of gluten also won’t stimulate antibody production or cause intestinal damage.
