Dermographia ... Celiac Related?

Paddie

I have a condition known as dermographia (skin writing). Pressure or varying temperature on the skin causes hives to occurr. I have to take antihistimines before bed and when I awaken.

Gluten gives me IBS. I've suspected that it may have something to do with dermographia as well, but my dermotologist says "No".

I just had a blood test for Celiac and the IgA returned positive. I know there are a number of different IgA readings, so I'm not sure if it means anything ... or what to do next.

Has anyone heard of dermographia being related to Celiac?

I'm new to this board and would appreciate any response.

My daughter has it - it is not related to celiac. It is an immune reponse like celiac, so someone with any of the hundreds of immune conditions would be at higher risk of developing it - but not exclusively celiacs.

Because dermatographia may be triggered by many different things and because it can be aggravated by stress and other emotions, it's sometimes difficult

I have had dermatographia since childhood. I have not had it appear since I was gluten-free about 6 months. For me it was related to the celiac.

I wonder if that's what I had that for 20-25 years, just didn't know there was a name for it. I just said that I had weird skin. I could write my name on my forearm and it would swell up. Usually gone in 30 min though. Haven't had it much since gluten free.

Many years ago yes, after eating and going to bed, apparently my esophagus filled with food that my body rejected, the esophagus would lay against the Heart sack (pericardium?) and the heart would respond by becoming arrhythmic. That went away with the strict diet.

I was commenting on the report saying it did not mention migraines! Yes it does last paragraph says have not seen any evidence that Celiac cause migraines! I thought this was about truth?

It has been known for some years that celiacs suffer from migraines at a higher rate than the general populatation. It is an established symptom.

I suffer so bad with migraines when I eat gluten! Yes diagnosed celiac disease n 2015 and it took me years to discover gluten was behind me having severe migraines.  So yes it happens there has to be others like me!

If black seed oil is working for his Afib, stick to it, but if not, I can say that ablation therapy is no big deal--my mother was out of the procedure in about 1 hour and went home that evening, and had zero negative effects from the treatment. PS - I would recommend that your husband get an Apple watch to monitor his Afib--there is an app and it will take readings 24/7 and give reports on how much of the time he's in it. Actual data like this should be what should guide his treatment.
