I caught the end of the view and they were celebrating Elizabeth's birthday. Baskin Robins made her a gluten free cake and that was mentioned on the show. I just wanted to share.

I saw this too and was excited that they mentioned baskin robbins making elisabeth a gluten free cake

Do they(Baskins Robins) always have gluten-free stuff...or did they make special for elizabeth????

OH, MAN..........I always tune out too soon. Many days I just watch hot topics and then get on with my day, was not interested in the guests so shut off the TV. I should have stuck with it, I guess. I am interested in the Baskin Robbins cake thing too. Hope there are others with information, but calling them would be the best, I guess. Obviously that show was taped before last Wednesday or Rosie and Elisabeth would not have been sitting next to each other and Rosie would not have given Elisabeth a week at her Miami house as a BD present. Wonder if it will still happen!!!!!!!!! I am going to miss Rosie on that show, I know she gets out of line here and there, but I love her spunk and I also like the rest of the gals. It sure made for an intersting morning at times. I'll sure be watching tomorrow to see what's up with the show. Barbara will surely be there with Joy and Elisabeth. Barbara

I know that B&R makes ice cream cakes that are all ice cream, that are gluten-free. That may have been what they were eating. But it would be super kewl if they would make gluten-free cake/ice cream cakes.

Only Ice cream and cakes. The 1 thing I have always loved about them is on the name of the ice cream it list, gluten lactose, etc. if it is in it. They have done that for at least 19 years with gluten.

Hi

I try the B&R here in Dade, and Broward county in Florida, and they don't make anything gluten-free. :(

If anyone know of any bakery down here that makes gluten-free stuff please my family would appreciate it very much.

The gluten-free "cakes" are all ice cream with hot fudege/frosting stuff and nuts. They usually make them with jamoca almond fudge ice cream. Look in the catalog for "all ice cream" cakes. (basicaly they cut a slab off the top of the container, and frost it with hot fudge, frosting, etc.

I have seen some that have them and some that don't, I think the independently owned franchises do whatever they want.

My Baskin-Robbins does not know a thing about gluten. Their ice-cream is full of it; except vanilla maybe? I don't remember the only option I had because I declined, and went to the grocery store for Hagen-Daz strawberry instead. It's a NYC thing to get such luxuries?:huh:

Most of the employees there have no idea what gluten is. If you look at the label with the name on it says "rocky road" for example. Under the name it should say contain,s lactose, nuts. Look at the "Strawberry shortcake" under the name it willl say contains wheat or gluten (depending on the contents of the "shortcake"), lactose, etc.

That is how it should be labeled, all the B&R's I have ever been too have been like this. I think it is a corporate policy, unlesss the label was written by hand (which happens on occasion).

I'm not saying that is how they are every where, but saying; you may want to check out the labels, again. You might be pleasantly surprised.

If the stupid website doen't change it to lame ad. (just search for it on google if it does). You can click on ice cream then the flavor and it will tell you if it has wheat, etc. and the ingredients.

I checked and it says all their cakes have gluten/wheat, I swear I looked at each individual one they have listed. Doesn't matter for us unless they had a sorbet ice cake, we are non dairy.

Then they are not offering the "all ice cream-ice cream cake". It really isn't a cake but a large slab of ice cream with fudge frosting on it. You aren't really missing anything.

In my area ( Ontario ) certain ice creams are gluten-free, but the icing they use to decorate is not.

      It's unfortunate that they won't work with you on this, but in the end sometimes we have to take charge of our own health--which is exactly what happened to me. I did finally get the tests done, but only after years of going down various rabbit holes and suffering. Just quitting gluten may be the best path for you at this point.

She is more concerned about my blood pressure that is caused by her presence than anything else and just wants to push pills at me. The so-called dermatologist wouldn't do a skin test. she prescribed all of these silly antihistamine skin meds. This lady...

      jmartes, Thank you for sharing  more information with us. Most of us Celiacs whose problems do not clear up with in a few years have to decide what to do next. Usually Celiac Disease is not a killer disease, it is a disabling disease as  you have found out. You have time to find some ways to help you recover. Stay on your gluten-free diet and be more careful in avoiding cross contamination . KnittyKitty  and others here can give you advice about avoiding some foods that can give you the gluten auto immune reaction and advice about vitamins and supplement that help celiacs. You may need to take higher doses of Vit. B12  and D3.  About 20 years before a Dr. suggested I might have Celiac disease I had health problems that all other Dr said they could not identify or treat. I was very opposed to alternative providers and treatments. So many people were getting help from a local healer I decided to try that out. It was a little helpful but then, because I had a good education in medical laboraties she gave me a book  to read and what did I think. With great skeptism I started reading and before I was half way through it I began using the methods outlined in the book. Using those herbs and supplements I went from hardly able to work to being able to work almost fulltime. I still use that program. But because I had undiagnosed celiac disease by 10 years later some  of my problems returned and I started to loose weight.    So how does a person find a program that will benefit them? Among the programs you can find online there are many that are snake oil scams and some that will be beneficial. by asking around, as I did. Is there an ND in your area? Do they reccomend that person? If you would like to read about the program I use go to www.drclark.net

This lady didn't even know what she was talking about and said "they never turn out as celiac, they usually just say it's dermatitis so here's your meds," just like my regular quack. I'm trying to change insurance companies at the moment and that has been a battle because of red tape, wrong turns, and workers having wrong phone numbers. What a joke! The allergy blood days say I have a wheat allergy of .31. Hopefully it's just that and until I find a decent doctor and dermatologist, I'll just lay off the wheat anyway, since it gives me asthma, high blood sugar, and joint pain. So frustrated at this point. The rash on my back of arms/elbows is mostly gone. Both calves and chest have started up. smh. It comes and goes. It fades faster now, though, although my forearms still produce one or two bumps on each side. The itching has calmed down a lot except for the bump area. I have dry skin to begin with so anything affecting it just makes it crazy. i'm never going to eat wheat again. I don't care if they need it to produce results or if it is just an intolerance, allergy, or celiac. It gives me hell.

Im in disability limbo and I should have never been a bus driver because im still suffering and trying to heal with zero income except for my husband. This isnt fare that my health is dictating my living and having ti beg for being revalidation of my disregarded celiac disease. Its an emotional roller coaster I don't want to be on and the medical made it worse.New pcp new gi, exhausted, tired and really fed up. GI doctor NOT girl..
