Hello! Sorry if this question has been asked already -- I read through a few post about enterolab, but didn't notice my question. Also -- sorry for the question -- but I guess it's not like ya'all haven't talked about questions like this before! :P

So here it goes. . . . I have a GI appointment set up, but it's not until August so I decided to go and give the Enterolab thing a shot (i'm impatient!). My Q is -- my main symptom (among several) is the big chronic D  . . . for those of you who have tested w/ Enterolab before -- is that ok for a sample b/c that's pretty much what all I've got to offer!!!

Just wanted to be sure -- also -- is it ok if you don't "send it off" right away if it is frozen?! I can't believe I'm asking these questions!

Thanks for the info -- YOU GUYS ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Hi there!

"D" is OK and they have specific packing instructions to ensure that the feces stay in their container no matter how liquid. (I know, ewww factor!)

Also, you can only send off your package on a Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday so that it won't arrive at Enterolab on a weekend. So if you collect your specimen on a Thursday, for example, it's sitting in your freezer until Monday morning. No biggie as long as you don't care that there's poop in your freezer.

HTH! :)

they told me they perfer it at least 24 hours in the freezer

yuck

I am on week 2 waiting for the results.

Grrr why does it take so long :(

The others already answered. But yes D is ok and yes, it is best to freeze it before shipping.

flipping out -- just sent my enterolab off and realized that i did not sign the shipping form giving consent -- does anyone know if this will mess up them not sending it out?! :(

They may want to also eliminate other possible causes for your symptoms/issues and are doing additional tests.  Here is info about blood tests for celiac disease--if positive an endoscopy where biopsies of your intestinal villi are taken to confirm is the typical follow up.

In the Europe the new protocol for making a celiac disease diagnosis in children is if their tTg-IgA (tissue transglutaminase IgA) levels are 10 times or above the positive level for celiac disease--and you are above that level. According to the latest research, if the blood test results are at certain high levels that range between 5-10 times the reference range for a positive celiac disease diagnosis, it may not be necessary to confirm the results using an endoscopy/biopsy: Blood Test Alone Can Diagnose Celiac Disease in Most Children and Adults TGA-IgA at or Above Five Times Normal Limit in Kids Indicates Celiac Disease in Nearly All Cases No More Biopsies to Diagnose Celiac Disease in Children! May I ask why you've had so many past tTg-IgA tests done, and many of them seem to have been done 3 times during short time intervals?

@JettaGirl, "Coeliac" is the British spelling of "celiac". Same disease.

This may sound ridiculous but is this supposed to say Celiacs? I looked up Coeliacs because you never know, there’s a lot of diseases related to a disease that they come up with similar names for. It’s probably meant to say Celiacs but I just wanted to confirm.

I was told it was to see how much damage has been caused. But just told CT with contrast not any other name for it.
