Could This Rash Be Dh?

I was loosly diagnosed with celiac about a year ago (no biopsy) and have been gluten free since. In the past several months I have been getting a recurring rash on the inside of my right elbow. It starts out with tiny red bumps and spreads outward in a ring- centered right around my inner elbow fold. It is slightly itchy. The think that makes me suspect it might be from gluten is I also have been getting diarrhea right when the rash breaks out (probably from cc, getting glutened issues). The rash usually clears up in a couple of days on it's own- I haven't been putting anything on it.

Any thoughts on this? Is it worth getting in to see a dermatologist when I have an active rash?

Thanks,

Marcia

Marcia,

If you were loosely diagnosed with Celiac, do you follow the diet loosely as well?

I would revisit your diet and make sure that it's clean from gluten including lipsticks, shampoos, shared toaster or cc from home or restaurants.

If your rash does not clear up, then perhaps see a doctor.

No, I do follow the diet as closely as I can. I am very careful at home, have a separate toaster, etc, am careful about reading labels, choose gluten-free cosmetics, etc. I do eat out about 1-2 times a week but...

this question is not about how careful I eat, it is about whether the rash is from gluten, or possibly something else...

HI, When my DH first started it was last year, and it showed up on the inside folds of my arm (elbow area) each side of my neck, across my belly, and lower back, neck/hairline...after doctoring with my family dr. i went to see a derm. in Aug of this year finally, he diagnosed it DH, now by time i went to see him..the rash had cleared up everywhere but my lower back, pubic area, neck/hairline, after taking dapsone for almost 2 months now and on a gluten-free diet for a month, my rash is pretty much gone.

Your rash may be clearing up because you are already gluten-free and watching closely. thats just my opinion tho. I'm very new to this..only sharing where my rash first started.

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
