Namaste Foods

Hi all,

I just found a new brand of gluten-free food. I found it in our local supermarket.

I have been asking for gluten free food and boy did we get it, a

whole kiosk full of gluten-free flours, cookies, rice milk. etc., they even put in

a small freezer with frozen waffles, Amy's pizza, and several gluten-free dinners.

Everything but bread. Anyway, the new (to me) are Namaste Foods,

I have tried the cookies, chocolate cake, and brownies. My husband

really loved them and he doesn't eat gluten-free.

I called them and spoke to the owner! She has a son with autism

and he is gluten-free and DF. She is just starting out and the best thing for me

is that she offers sugar-free, gluten-free, and DF products. They include pizza

crust, waffle/pancake, and muffins. Her website is www.namastefoods.com.

I live in a small town but we have a very good gastroenterologist in

our area. He has diagnosed over 100 people with Celiac's in our

area in just one year which probably explains the increased access

to gluten-free foods. It is so much better than those high shipping costs.

Also, in our town a resident in my mother's nursing facility was just admitted

on a Celiac diet. I understand that the staff is getting an education

on eating gluten-free.

Interesting, when I suffered for a few months with ectopics I noticed that carbohydrates would cause indigestion and bloating in my stomach, then that would lead to my heart skipping beats, and I could feel it in my throat, it was very unsettling.  My last serious bout of this was after eating a Muller Rice Pudding for breakfast.   I happened to be wearing a 48 hour halter at the time and cardiology picked it up, but they weren't worried about what they saw. There was some British doctor who'd made some videos on the Vagus nerve that I remember watching at the time which made sense of what I was experiencing, there did seem to be some sort of connection.

I asked my cardiologist about stopping vitamins.  He said his tests account for all detectable vitamins from sources other than food.  I only need to stop them for a couple of days.  He has me keep records of meds and vitamins I've ingested over the past 10 days and prior and he does his calculations.

Reply to treats I try and eat to bring up the glucose. Sometime I get up 3 times a night and eat something. I don't think food is the issue. A lot of the food they say should help doesn't.  Many mornings my level is 59 and I feel sick, sometimes for hours. It has been recommended I go to an Endocrinologist.
