Well i saw my Gastro Spec. today for the first time, a very nice doctor that acutally sat and talked with me and wasn't in a hurry to run out the door. Afer listening to my history of gastro problems and "IBS" diagnosis for 16 yrs, then my most recent visit and diagnosis from the derm. that i had DH, He agreed that is most likely what i have, he did run the blood work, but said right now a scope doesn't seem to be needed, he's satified with my history and dx from derm. but ran the blood work just to see. He did look at my scars from the DH that i had in other places, and said it sure did look to be in the places it usually apppears...sooo results in 2 weeks..i'll keep ya posted and i'm sure i'll need help understanding the numbers. Lori

If your derma has diagnosed you with DH there is absolutely no question that you need to be on the gluten free diet no matter what the test results say. You have a good GI doctor there and since he does not see the need to endo you going on the diet today is what you need to do, you don't need to wait as you already have your diagnosis. Feel free to ask all the questions you need to and since you have had the blood work there is no need to wait to start your recovery.

My dermatologist started me on the gluten-free diet late August, So i've been on it now for a little while and feeling MUCH better, rash is pretty much gone :) My gastro dr. said the same thing, being on the diet and the dapsone and feeling much better is a sure sign YOU have celiacs, he just did the blood work to see, curious i guess, but not doubting..I'll be sure to post my numbers on my blood work when i get them, Thanks, Lori

Your blood work is likely to be NEGATIVE if you have already started the diet--Hope your gastrs is aware of this (many are under the misconception that bloodwork will be positive no matter what, but this is not the case).

Either way, hope you are already feeling better!

Too bad the derma didn't do a draw in August then the blood draw now might have a real purpose. If you have been gluten-free since August you are most likely going to have a negative or at most a real low positive if your antibody levels were extremely high to begin with. Having a test at diagnosis and then retesting lets you see how gluten free you are and can be useful if folks are getting a lot of CC. Do let us know what the numbers are though and what the GI says.

Thanks rmj when I first rang up it was we can't do it without , but I talked to a lovely lady and she sorted it all out for me, so it pays to be persistent , I would have had to decline if I hadn't been given the water option too , so yes I'm glad too 😌

I’m so glad they listened to your concerns!  I hope you get some answers from the MRI.

Had my MRI today I didn't have to have the manitol with my allergy's , I just had a litre of water , they were great with my concerns , so let's see if anything comes of if will keep posted once I have results 👍

Thank you ,it’s been a long road for me for having both now ,what upsets the most is that if they discovered that I also have cealiac earlier I would not have injested gluten if I was aware. Double whammy.
