Vitamin B12

<_<

So, been reading after feeling sorta weird lately - light headedness, fatigue, shortness of breath and some dizziness - all of which *could* be attributed to a deficiency of B12. Also noted that some celiacs get B12 shots to keep levels up.

Anyone familiar with this ? If so, how was it decided to get B12 shots, how was it even decided to measure B12 levels ? Symptoms ?

I'm going to see a naturopath next week - getting desparate with my symptoms. I've been worried that maybe I've been developing other sensitivities or am allergic to the pool environment I work at, or something ! I was reading on webmd.com about this B12 thing - kind of stumbled on it. Any input would be GREATLY appreciated.

I get my blood work done about once a year to make sure everything is within range. I am great now, but last year I was low in Folic Acid and B-12. During that time, I felt that my equilibrium was out of wack and low energy. I had B-12 shots once a week for a month, then every month for a bout six months.

It made a great difference.

I think it very important to have routine blood work. It can reveal so much.

I went to a Naturopath to have these levels checked and my calcium, magnesium and b12 were severely low and that was way last march or earlier than that even. Before I knew I couldn't have gluten and it came back with me being severely deficient in b12. I had a hair sample and blood test taken for metals and deficiencies. VERY worth it!

My B-12 deficiency is what finally led to my diagnosis. I was also iron anemic and Vitamin D deficient. I'd always been told I have IBS, but when I was also having all of these deficiencies, and feeling like I am 80 years old (I'm 39), I finally got tested.

Two weeks gluten free, and I am still feeling the fatigue, but the stomach issues have disappeared.

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

This is an older article, but may be helpful.

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
