Hi Everyone.

We had to change our honeymoon plans last minute so instead of going to Cape May, we are going to go the Finger Lakes New York. Has anyone traveled there/lives there? Any experience gluten free dining or stores.

Thanks Everyone!

In the thread "Niagara Falls" in the Gluten-free travel section, there are posts that give suggestions for the Finger Lakes as that was an interim stop on that planned trip.

The Finger Lakes is a big region. Until a year ago, my parents had a property south of Canadaigua. The Wegmans store in town was always a great source. This part of NY is Wegmans' home turf, so there should be a store not too far from wherever you are.

Gotta love that store! I know ours is always packed.

Do you already have plans on where you will stay? I stayed at the Glenora Winery and it was great- They have a nice Inn (more like a small hotel), a winery with tours, a restaurant. I stayed there pre-celiac- but the restaurant and everyone was very nice. It is very beautiful- although getting cold here!!!

I will be contacting them tomorow to ask about gluten-free options (for myself too, as I live nearby). I'll let you know if they get back to me or I find anything out.

Do check the other thread though- there are many great places throughout the entire region- unless you have narrowed down where/when you'l be staying yet- then I could give you more specifics.

Thiamine interacts with all the other B vitamins.  Thiamine and B 6 make a very important enzyme together. With more thiamine and other vitamins available from the supplements your body is absorbing the ones you need more of.  The body can control which vitamins to absorb or not.  You're absorbing more and it's being transported through the blood.   It's common to have both a Thiamine and a Pyridoxine deficiency.  Keep taking the B Complex. This is why it's best to stop taking supplements for six to eight weeks before testing vitamin levels.

Yes I took a supplement that had B6 in it, low dosage though. I've stopped taking that. B1 doesn't affect other B vitamin levels?

Have you tried lip balm made from tallow?  It's been used for thousands of years and works better than those with waxes. I prefer Vintage Traditions brand tallow balm products.

Are you taking a B 6 supplement or a supplement containing B 6 like a B Complex?  Do you have pins and needles in your toes?   Don't worry about the thiamine being high.  The blood is a transport system that carries thiamine to the cells so they can store it.  It's fine.

Quick question, had some blood tests done again and once again my zinc was too low but now ofcourse my B1 was too high and so was my B6. The doc said to  immediately  stop all supplements that contain B6. Can using thiamine raise the levels of B6 too?
