I was reading other topics, and they reminded me of something that happened shortly after we had found out that my 14 month old had Celiac Disease.

She was going to stay at our friends house, to give my hubby and I a date night. I told my friend that I would pack ALL of my daughters food, so there would be no questions. Well, my friend called me while we were out, and said Abbey has been reaching for the water cup...she asked me, "can I give her water?" I thought that was hilarious, but I had appreciated it so much! She was questioning everything that went into my baby's mouth.

Lol :lol: .....it shows that she cares, though, and is doing everything she can to keep your daughter safe. :)

that is soooo funnyyyy now you know that that person is someone you can trust your daughter with because she is overly careful

Hey, you want funny -- our peds GI asked , when I mentioned my son had passed the dairy challenge his nutritionist set up. "So where do you get your milk? Is it special? Is milk gluten free?" We decided later that she must have misunderstood something I said, or I wasn't understanding her Eastern asia accent......

      Scott I also have different symptoms than most people. It affects me bad. Stomach ache, headache, nauseous, heart racing, whole body shaking, can't walk then my throat starts to close. It attacks my nervous system. The only thing that saves me is a 1/2 of Xanax...it calms down my nervous system

      Scott Adams. I was dealing with a DR that didn't care about me being celiac. I repeatedly told him that I was celiac and is everything gluten-free. He put an acrylic lens from j&j. I called the company to ask about gluten and was told yes that the acrylic they use has gluten....then they back tracked immediately and stopped talking to me. The Dr didn't care that I was having issues. It took me 6 months and a lot of sickness to get it removed.... which can only happen within 6 months. The Dr that took it out said that it was fused and that's why I lost vision. If they would have removed it right away everything would be fine. He put in a silicone one that was gluten-free and I've had no issues at all in the other eye. Do not do acrylic!

      Welcome @Martha Mitchell, I too would like to know more about your prior lenses, and especially about the potential of gluten in lenses. In theory this should not harm most celiacs, as the autoimmune reaction normally begins in the gut, however, in those who are super sensitive or have dermatitis herpetiformis it may be a potential issue.

      It's most likely going to be a celiac disease diagnosis based on your blood test results, but wait for your doctor to give you a green light for going gluten-free, as they may want to do additional testing. This article has some detailed information on how to be 100% gluten-free, so it may be helpful (be sure to also read the comments section.):
