Gluten Intolerant With Mild Symptoms

I have read so many horror stories of people who are celiac or gluten intolerant that are very ill d/t gluten. I was wondering if there is anyone who has only mild symptoms to no symptoms? My daughter has never been confirmed with celiac, her bloodwork was inconclusive and did test positive with enterolab, but compaired to others her symptoms really are mild. She was having fatty, stools with mucus and some abdominal pain while having a bm, she also had ulcers and tooth enamel defects of just the two upper front teeth, which they told me was from breastfeeding at night, which is bull. Now she has been gluten free for about 8months and if she does accidently have gluten she is just a little gassy, Oh yea she had large amounts of gas before. Just wondering if anyone else displays these mild symptoms?

We're going throught he dicovery phase here, but my son has NO external symptoms, just bloodwork and duodenal biopsy results. Very frustrating.

I started out having mild symptoms. So mild that I didn't realize they were symptoms. I lived like that for probably eight years until I got REALLY sick. You may be lucky that you got your diagnosis before things got really bad for your daughter. I also found that when I went gluten-free, a lot of my symptoms that I didn't even realize were symptoms went away. I didn't know I was so sick until I was healthy again.

Other symptoms that Celiac Disease can cause but resemble other diseases so the cause may be misdiagnosed. What Are the Symptoms of Celiac Disease?

Thanks Scott. They are gluten-free but cross contaminated.

Hi there @MCAyr I have a small umbilical hernia which came about during my second pregnancy.   I can just about see it, and feel it, when I stand or sit, but it is far less noticeable when I lie down.  I always know when I am putting on weight because I can get pain and burning near the site, funnily enough not on the hernia itself but either side!  I would imagine bloating could cause the same effect as weight gain. In my case I don't think it is my bowel protruding but a bit of fat  - sorry,  I realise this isn't painting a very pretty picture.  But in truth it is scarcely noticeable.  It has never really got bigger in size. I was rather hoping that it could be operated on but here in the UK they don't seem to operate on every hernia anymore.  My GP isn't remotely worried about it. In a way, I should be thankful - it is like an early warning system that I need to go on a diet! Cristiana

The hernia description would likely be unrelated to celiac disease, but you'd need to get it checked out by your doctor to be sure it's a hernia.
