What's Good To Eat In Cleveland?

So how 'bout it? Does anybody recommend good places to go in Cleveland who will feed me?? I don't mind figuring out my own breakfasts and lunches, but there are usually large get-togethers for supper, and I'd love to be prepared.

Thanks!!!

Lins,

I'll welcome you in advance to my hometown. Where will you be staying? Depending upon what side of town you will be I can recommend some options for you. We have all the usual restaurant chains and some of them around here offer gluten-free menu's (PF Changs on the East Side / Carrabba's on the West Side). Mostly I eat plain burgers, plain steaks or salads.

The key is talking to the chef. If you can get the wait staff to pass along your needs and speak directly to chef you'll have no concerns.

Hey, thanks Cleveland Bob!

I am unsure of where we'll be staying. The show is at the IX Center and last time we stayed out by the airport. They guys I will be with tend to like to go downtown for at least one nice dinner. We don't have PF Chang or Carrabbas around where I live so those might be good places to go if I get the opportunity to specify. I expect, tho, that they'll want a nice steak place that's not a chain. I just figure if anyone has had good experiences in any particular places, I can just nicely explain to my coworkers that if they want me well enough to help at the show, they best find me some non contaiminated food! :D

Honestly, I'd stay away from those chain places. They are run of the mill, and actually kind of nasty.

If you like ethnic foods there are two great places.

One is Shanghai Place, owned by new owners who are really health concious and definitely should be able to accomodate us. They are known to treat their customers EXCELLENTLY. They have raving reviews too but for some reason I can't find them. Keep in mind the restaurant has like 5 names, so I could be searching under the wrong one. The address and phone is correct, though.

Another is Empress Taytu's Ethiopian place. Ethiopian is actually a really good cuisine, believe it or not. Their restaurant is also highly rated.

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

This is an older article, but may be helpful.

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?

Thankyou so much for your words. Its a hard battle when a supposed well known hospital whose celiac " specialist " has down played me because my colon looks fine and put it in my medical and so pcp doesn't take seriously. In their eyes we all carry that gene.Im having alot of bad days trying to be positive because of it.
