I understand how difficult it is to find someone who will accept you with all of the health uncertainties, Sweetie. Been there done that. I lost all my friends (and my boyfriend at the time) but 2 when I first got sick. 2 have come back into my life again but now it's a challege to find someone who is going to be there and love you unconditionally, when you are strong and when you are weak. Either they are very naive and want to take care of you, but over time it becomes too much for them to handle, and then there are the ones you have to convince that you aren't dead and what amazing things you have as an individual to offer.

I wish it were easier. Just don't ever give up on Love, Brian.

You are a beautiful soul and deserve it.

Blessings and have a healing week!!! B)

Collette

Brain, It's neat that we have the same bday, and have some not run of the mill interests in common.

Collete and Brain, you both sound like you'll make fabulous healers. My path has taking me in different directions, but healing will always be at the core of it. Just not sure how it will manifest yet. I'm so excited to meet fellow dreamers. Hardly anyone gets it and it is so important to me. I haven't lost any friends because of my problems, but it makes having friends harder. I seem Crazy to them. Or worse...prudish. Oh well. I'm sorry for your losses.

Collete... You are so sweet. I'm sorry about your brother and dad. You are so lucky to feel the energy of those you love who have passed over. I dream of them, which is a huge blessing to me,but it doesn't happen all the time. I went through a huge double loss a few years ago and feeling them would have been incredible. I did that first day, but it passed. Which is okay. I have been visited in my sleep and know they are okay.

best wishes and quick healing.

Collette,

I'm sorry that you have experienced loss due to your illness as well. Luckily I haven't lost any of my close friends. They've been very understanding and accomodating, which is definitely appreciated. I'm glad that two of your friends have come back into your life. You definitely deserve to have people there for you. True friends are always there for you.

It's so hard to convince someone that you are worthwhile as a boyfriend or girlfriend when an illness controls your life. I would almost prefer to be with someone with chronic illness, just so that we would be on the same page. But that's obviously not the way the world works. Being 23 years old means that a lot is expected of me in a relationship. I should be able to go on trips, or go out drinking, or go out for dinner, or make my own money for gifts...etc. All stuff I can't do. Plus I feel like if I did meet someone, I'd have to give them a disclaimer: "Please be aware that I'm chronically ill and can't meet many of your needs". I have no idea what I'm going to do, but I'll definitely never give up on Love. It's a big motivation to get better I guess.

I hope you are able to find love as well. You definitely deserve it. Even with your illness, there's no doubt in my mind that you have more to offer than most women. You are a beautiful soul as well, and you give off the most amazing energy. I'm very glad to have met you.

I hope you have a healing week as well! Take care,

-Brian

Fedora,

I agree that it is very cool that we have so much in common along with the same birthday. It's definitely nice to connect with people who have similar interests. I believe that healing takes many forms, and if it is at your core, that is what you will do. And wherever your path has taken you, I'm sure you have healing others along the way. I hope that I'll be able to pursue a career in energy healing, but it's always good to keep your options open. So we'll see what happens. But it's definitely nice to meet fellow dreamers. Sometimes it can be hard to connect with "regular" people. But anyway I hope all is well with you. Take care,

-Brian

You are so thoughtful. :)

Relationships are hard even for people who AREN'T chronically ill. I think a lot of people have their prioities off. Life means little without love. Whether it's romantic or just friendly love. Love is a beautiful amazing thing. And it's sad to see people fear it or avoid it. I wish more people were capable of unconditional love...

I don't go anywhere socially, I do on occasion but it's rare. I am sick and I used to be so fun and spontanious and now I wish I was able to be what is defined as "normal" by society. And the people who you associate with. I didn't get sick until I was 25 and now I am just a shell of who I used to be.

I personally like the person who I am now much more than the person I was then.

I have much more compassion and patience.

Is there any reason you can't go to California with your girlfriend? :):):)

I am actually madly in love with somebody and I am hoping they can be patient and supportive while I am healing. I am just keeping my fingers crossed and thinking positive!! I think he is scared. I am kinda scary HAHAHAHA B)

You know where to find me, Sweetie!!!

Collette,

I agree that relationships are hard enough for people who aren't chronically ill. But there are so many obstacles to get past with a significant other when you are sick. I think most people are just scared to scratch the surface, which is too bad, because there is so much more to people like us.

Life really does mean little without love. I wish more people would realize that, because unconditional love is the best feeling in the world. I girlfriend used to put love first, but obviously her priorities changed.

I'm sorry that you are unable to go anywhere socially. I used to be the same exact way before I was on IV nutrition. But the IV nutrition really made my life more bearable. You said that you "used to be so fun", but I'm sure you're still a lot of fun, even if you can't go out. In a relationship, it's not about where you go, it's about how you spend your time together. And any guy who would think that you're not fun enough would obviously be blind to all of the wonderful things that you have to offer. Besides, going out is overrated :P .

I also like the person that I am now much more than the person that I was before I got sick. I have much more depth and appreciation for human suffering. I feel that I have much more to offer others and the world now that I have been through such a tough experience.

I'm unable to go to California with my girlfriend because of my health. I very much depend on the doctors that I have here. Also, my IV nutrition is set up here, and I don't think I'd be able to move. But mostly it's just that my home is here, and I wouldn't really want to leave. Obviously I'm not worth enough to her to stay, so I wouldn't uproot my life to follow her.

I hope it works out with you and the person you love. You definitely deserve it. I hope he is able to see through your illness into the beautiful person that you are. He'd be crazy not to. ;)

I'll talk to you later,

-Bri

Hey Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has had any success with Spiritual and Alternative Healing methods, such as Acupuncture, Reiki, Quantum Touch, Body Talk, Cranio Sacral Therapy, Integrated Energy Therapy...etc. I have had some success with Reiki, which I can do myself, and Body Talk, which was done by a practicioner. Reiki is energy healing through the hands. Body Talk is an advanced form of muscle testing. It is very effective. Has anyone else tried out these therapies? Have you found them to be effective? Thanks,

-Brian

I'm sure they are fine, as long as you also stay completely gluten-free. Kathe

To play it safe, use Vasoline Lip Therapy. No questions as to it containing gluten.

jmartes, Thank you for sharing  more information with us. Most of us Celiacs whose problems do not clear up with in a few years have to decide what to do next. We can keep seeing DR.s and hope that we will get some  medication or advice that will improve our health. Or we can go looking for other ways to improve our health. Usually Celiac Disease is not a killer disease, it is a disabling disease as  you have found out. You have time to find some ways to help you recover. Stay on your gluten-free diet and be more careful in avoiding cross contamination . KnittyKitty  and others here can give you advice about avoiding some foods that can give you the gluten auto immune reaction and advice about vitamins and supplement that help celiacs. You may need to take higher doses of Vit. B12  and D3.  About 20 years before a Dr. suggested I might have Celiac disease I had health problems that all other Dr said they could not identify or treat. I was very opposed to alternative providers and treatments. So many people were getting help from a local healer I decided to try that out. It was a little helpful but then, because I had a good education in medical laboraties she gave me a book  to read and what did I think. With great skeptism I started reading and before I was half way through it I began using the methods outlined in the book. Using those herbs and supplements I went from hardly able to work to being able to work almost fulltime. I still use that program. But because I had undiagnosed celiac disease by 10 years later some  of my problems returned and I started to loose weight.    So how does a person find a program that will benefit them? Among the programs you can find online there are many that are snake oil scams and some that will be beneficial. by asking around, as I did. Is there an ND in your area? Do they reccomend that person? If you would like to read about the program I use go to www.drclark.net

It's unfortunate that they won't work with you on this, but in the end sometimes we have to take charge of our own health--which is exactly what happened to me. I did finally get the tests done, but only after years of going down various rabbit holes and suffering. Just quitting gluten may be the best path for you at this point.

My doctor didn't take the time to listen to anything. I don't even think she knows what it means. She is more concerned about my blood pressure that is caused by her presence than anything else and just wants to push pills at me. The so-called dermatologist wouldn't do a skin test. she prescribed all of these silly antihistamine skin meds. This lady didn't even know what she was talking about and said "they never turn out as celiac, they usually just say it's dermatitis so here's your meds," just like my regular quack. I'm trying to change insurance companies at the moment and that has been a battle because of red tape, wrong turns, and workers having wrong phone numbers. What a joke! The allergy blood days say I have a wheat allergy of .31. Hopefully it's just that and until I find a decent doctor and dermatologist, I'll just lay off the wheat anyway, since it gives me asthma, high blood sugar, and joint pain. So frustrated at this point. The rash on my back of arms/elbows is mostly gone. Both calves and chest have started up. smh. It comes and goes. It fades faster now, though, although my forearms still produce one or two bumps on each side. The itching has calmed down a lot except for the bump area. I have dry skin to begin with so anything affecting it just makes it crazy. i'm never going to eat wheat again. I don't care if they need it to produce results or if it is just an intolerance, allergy, or celiac. It gives me hell.

I had the test done by one of the specialist through second pcp I had only a few months because he was saying I wasn't.Even though Im positive HLA-DQ2 .My celiac is down played.I am with new pcp, seeing another girl doctor who wants to do another breathe test next month though Im positive sibo this year.I have high blood pressure not sure if its pain from sciatica or sibo, ibs or hidden gluten. Im in disability limbo and I should have never been a bus driver because im still suffering and trying to heal with zero income except for my husband. This isnt fare that my health is dictating my living and having ti beg for being revalidation of my disregarded celiac disease. Its an emotional roller coaster I don't want to be on and the medical made it worse.New pcp new gi, exhausted, tired and really fed up. GI doctor NOT girl..
