Anyone In East Africa? And, Where Can I Buy French-language Cookbooks?

Hello! I'm new to the forum. I've been poking around looking for information to help me with my move to Bujumbura, Burundi, in East Africa. I'll be stocking up on all my favorite baking mixes and cookies and crackers. But I'm wondering what local foods might be okay for me, if any (besides your basic fruits and veggies). I know not all the baking there is done with wheat flour, but I can't really pin down what other flours might be used. I also have no idea what the grocery stores may have as far as European imports that might be okay. Has anyone been to Bujumbura, or even Kenya, Rwanda, or Tanzania?

Also, does anyone know of an English-language website where I can order French-language gluten-free cookbooks? Everyone we know in Bujumbura has a cook/housekeeper that speaks French and they've recommended getting cookbooks in French. (But we don't know any other celiacs there, so no one can really help me on the gluten-free foods question.) I poked around Amazon Canada but haven't had any luck yet.

Thanks!

I went to Amazon France and Canada and searched for "sans gluten' and found these listings:

"Sans" gluten, of course! My brain's not quite in French mode yet. Thank you very much!

Welcome to the forum! This article has some detailed information on how to be 100% gluten-free, so it may be helpful (be sure to also read the comments section.):    This article may also be helpful:

Many years ago yes, after eating and going to bed, apparently my esophagus filled with food that my body rejected, the esophagus would lay against the Heart sack (pericardium?) and the heart would respond by becoming arrhythmic. That went away with the strict diet.

I was commenting on the report saying it did not mention migraines! Yes it does last paragraph says have not seen any evidence that Celiac cause migraines! I thought this was about truth?

It has been known for some years that celiacs suffer from migraines at a higher rate than the general populatation. It is an established symptom.
