I don't know if baking powder typically contains gluten or not. I'm guessing not, but I'm new at this so I'm trying to double check everything before letting it into my body. I can't contact the manufacturer for the baking powder I have right now, so I am trying to just check the ingredients themselves. So far, everything has been okay but I can't seem to find out what sodium aluminum sulfate and monocalcium phosphate are made of and if they contain gluten. Anybody know?

Ditto for a box of instant mashed potatoes. The only ingredient I haven't been able to track down yet is sodium metabisulfite. Again, any advice/knowledge/experience you guys have would be greatly appreciated.

yes, sodium aluminum sulfate and monocalcium phosphate are gluten free. The trick I use when I want to know right away is type in my google search engine the ingredient i want to search then the words gluten free? That usually answers it right away for me more often than not. Most instant mashed potatoes do have gluten. The hy-vee brand 4 cheese, roasted garlic and sour cream and chive are gluten free. Safeways Herb butter, original and roasted garlic are gluten free if you have these two stores near you? Also, trader jo's has a garlic mashed potato. Most baking powders are gluten free, what is the brand that you have? You are so right that you have to double check everything! I hear it does get easier for us...cant wait for that to happen :)

While these ingredients are gluten free you want to stay away from baking powder with aluminum in it. Aluminum is very bad for you. You can find brands without it.

      I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

      Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?

      Thankyou so much for your words.Its a hard battle when a supposed well known hospital whose celiac " specialist " has down played me because my colon looks fine and put it in my medical and so pcp doesn't take seriously. In their eyes we all carry that gene.Im having alot of bad days trying to be positive because of it.
