I am on Prevacid for stomach acid treatment and am trying to ween myself off. I was wondering if anyone knows if Zantac or Pepcid AC (or like product) is gluten-free & safe to take?

Any info/help is greatly appreciated.

Cleveland Bob :)

This is this sites gluten-free list of medications. This might help you out. I saw some of the things you mentioned on here.

Hope this helps :D

celiac3270,

You mentioned you took Prilosec, was it the over-the-counter kind or the prescription kind for kids?

My son was just prescribed the "disolve in your mouth" tablet for kids (prescription only).

Haven't heard back from company or pharmacist yet.

Thanks!

Oops.... just reaized, he prescribed Pevicid NOT Prilosec (he rambled off a bunch of meds...)

Any info on Previcid children's prescription 30mg tablets that disolve in the mouth would be great.

I have been on 60mg a day for at least two years and was worried that when i was diagnosed i would not be able to take it, but my mom called the medicine company and the 30mg tablet is gluten-free. I did not ask about the 15mg pill, but I would assume that it would be the same thing. Good luck

I was taking Prilosec OTC (over the counter)...just a regular one--not the kids kind--and the doctor had me taking two a day, rather than the suggested one.

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

This is an older article, but may be helpful.

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
