Anyone Eating Paleo?

Hi there,

I had a bad weekend. I glutened myself on purpose, over and over again. It was like "well, I've already done it, I'll have this too..." . Stupid stupid me!! Grr... I'm ready to make ammends though. I ate paleo for about 2 or 3 months once while living with my mother who was doing the same thing. It was amazing, I felt SO much better, and I lost almost 50 pounds without even trying!! I would really love to feel that way again and I'd like to detox my body as well. I hadn't glutened myself on purpose in a long time and I can't believe I did that. I've been thinking about going paleo for a long time and now I'm ready.

I'd love to hear some stories from everyone on your Paleo diet experiences, expecially if you are living in a household that also has gluten eaters living there. I have a husband and two small kids who are addicted to gluten, and while they are supportive they don't always realize how hard it is to live with them and their gluten foods.

I'm really excited about trying this diet again and I think it will be a great experience as it will "force" me to do what I HATE doing- cook dinner *shudder* ... :lol:

So what are you "Paleo Eaters" basic food staples? Do you stick with the same menu day after day, or do you try to shake it up? Any helpful tips?

my spouse & I did an 'elimination' diet this winter for 3 weeks, he is not usually gluten-free but the diet was.

We both felt great!

Wasn't paleo since we could eat rice, but other than that it was all paleo.

We did mix it up, different meats, different veggies, different preps.

We did a quick 'pasta sauce': cooked ground meat, raw tomato, some basil, steamed onions, and raw juliened zucchini or summer sqaush. Blend the meat, tomato, basil & onion together (immersion blender, food processor or even a potato masher all would work), serve over the squash. Yum!

Usually did meat (in skillet or baked - could grill now in the summer!) topped with some herbs, plus a veggie (raw or steamed) and some rice. This seems plain at first but with so many choices of meats & veggies it quickly settles into a nicely varied rhythm. Yams might work instead of rice for a paleo-okay starch.

When you did this before what were some of your favorite combinations?

When I ate Paleo before I literally kept it as simple as possible. Eggs and sometimes homemade paleo sausage for breakfast, meat and veggies for lunch and dinner and fruit for snacks. I'd also make a mix of raisins and walnuts and take those with me where ever I went.

I think the simpler I keep my menu plans the easier it will go for me. I'm just nervous about doing it in a household of gluten eaters! Ugh! <_<

Thanks for all the yummy ideas, I had forgotten about spaghetti squash and how yummy it is. I might have to allow some non Paleo foods if I get desperate, but I'd like to go at least 30 days.

      This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers.       Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

      I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
