Greens Powders

I would like to use a greens powder, but a bit gun shy.

They told me at Garden of Life that Perfect Food is gluten free, but I had one serving and felt soooooo sick.

Barleans Greens told me theirs is also gluten free............and they would refund my money if it doesn't feel right.

Anybody had experience with any of these greens powders?

Thanks!

Chirunner

I feel horrible for you. Most greens powders claim they are gluten free but they use WHEAT GRASS!! They think since it's extracted that it won't effect anyone. But many people still have problems.

I have yet to find a wheat grass free greens which is bad.

Thanks Pyro, for your response. Sometimes I think I have it all figured out, and then my body goes wierd again! Thank goodness I have a juicer........at least, when I have the time, I can make a nice green juice that feels great

Have you thought to try a berry superfood instead? They make them and they're not bad. Usually out of a base of berries and grapes but the real superfoods are goji, noni, mangosteen, and lastly (but the biggest punch) acai berry. There is no other antioxidant food higher in the ORAC count than ACAI, but in order to sell in the US, it is pasteurized... don't know how much is lost through the process. Aronai (sp) is good also.

I used Rio-Vida for a while, but it has colostrum in it- as a warning (for general health for me and dh- it's my daughter who we're exploring Celiacs with).

      Thanks for your input.

If you have hemorrhoids 1x weekly I don't see how you have time to heal from one episode before you experience another one, unless each one is a very minor event. Have you consulted a physician about your hemorrhoid issue? It's not normal to be having an episode every week unless it is really one episode that is not completely healing between weekly flareups.

No I haven't had one since 2021. I rarely have more than 1 per week.

Sorry, I see that now as I reread your original post. You say you have hemorrhoids "only once a week" now. When I develop hemorrhoids, which is once every few years now, it generally takes 3-4 days for healing to take place. So, it doesn't seem like you could have much relief time between episodes if you have them weekly. Have you had a lower GI scoping done recently?

Everyday I eat a medium to large apple in the morning and a large banana at night. I eat a cup of oatmeal in the evening. The ezekiel wheat bread I eat has a good amount of fiber. I haven't dealt with constipation for at least a year. Most of the time my feces are soft.
