Difference Between Magnesium And Magnesium Stearate

I've been doing a little bit of research on magnesium. I was hospitalized a few years ago and the dr. told me that my mag. levels were low so they had to give me an IV of it.

Now I'm reading that mag. will help with costipation (which I'm having troubles with). So I am trying to find a gluten-free magnesium supliment.

THEN I read that magnesium stearate isn't good for you.

I AM SO CONFUSED!!!!

Am I right to think that the two AREN"T the same???

Why would a celiac be low in mag. like I was?

Will it really help my constipation?

It is very possible that a celiac could be deficient in any vitamin or mineral. If a celiac has just been diagnosed or isn't following the diet, they can have malabsorption. Magnesium can come in many different salt forms. It looks like magnesium stearate isn't used as a supplement. You may find magnesium oxide or a different kind. Yes, magnesium will help with constipation. It typically has diarrhea as a side effect but since you have constipation hopefully it will help you be more regular. Jennifer

Thank you Jennifer! :D

Magnesium Stearate is an industrial lubricant. Supplement manufacturers use it so that the product runs smoothly through their machines. It is toxic. Google it. I avoid it in my supplements.

Pure Encapsulation makes supplements without toxic fillers. A few other companies do to. I like Magnesium citrate or glycinate.

Could you wear a mask at work to reduce your inhalation of flour?

Sounds like for the good of your own mental health its time to find another living space anyway. It may be best for everyone concerned.

In the U.S. endoscopies are typically done under light sedation. You wouldn't even be aware of what's going on or remember it.

Thank you both so much, for the helpful advice on this topic & I am happy that it's not in my head,on my body telling me that something is up with my symptoms & needs a doctor's input on. I have a strong feeling in my gut, that my symptoms are either related to a gluten sensitivity,or even Celiac Disease itself. I am keeping a detailed track of my symptoms,& what foods I ate that triggered them to happen, because I know this will help me to better answer my doctor's questions on my symptoms. I am gonna ask for the blood test,& I am a little nervous lol about maybe having to get the Endoscopy but honestly if the blood test & Endoscopy helps diagnose whatever issues going on with my digestive system & the rest of my body,& why I haven't felt good in what feels like forever, then I will gladly get whatever diagnostic procedure needed. I will keep everyone updated on the doctor appointment & if there ends up being a diagnosis😊

Thank you. They said I'm gonna be kicked out but I have to find somewhere else to live anyway.
