Can DH just be on one side or is it always symmetrical?

Can DH just be on one side or is it always symmetrical?

I have asymptomatic DH, when my body first became intolerant, 2 years ago, I had DH covering a large percentage +50%, of my body, heavily on the right side, also on my genitals. Diagnosed with scabies (skin mites) and covinced to cover myself, entire body with permethrin, a 5% solution of insecticide. Massive bad reaction, oh the joys of oozing inflamation. No need to cover the celiac/stomach impact.

I am now 99% gluten free, like all of us, still learning and will always need to. The last time I got glutened, about 10 days ago, 95% of the blisters I got were on my right hand index and middle fingers on the last joint. The skin thickend and the joint became swollen and less mobile. My left hand, same location got very minor blistering, healed in days. Now, on my right fingers, the joint inflamation is almost gone, the skin is dry and thick but no longer itches. I try to increase my vitamin e and omega fatty acid supplements, flax oil and hemp powder to assist healing, and apply a good qualtiy vitamin e oil topical seems to also help heal faster.

I have read that iodine and candidia overgrowth, yeast infection, can trigger your DH.

Always research and read! You might miss something important for years and then by chance, an article, the right phrase or link will educate you in a way that helps you get that much healthier. Good Luck

I had two different DH rashes, one in the groin area that was on both sides and another on my right forearm and hand. I won't say I never had lesions on the left side but there was very little. I also can get those on my scalp but under my hair I really can't tell a pattern, they just itch. These rashes also looked different from each other.

So far my DH has been symmetrical. Mostly on my thighs, hips, and arms. But sometimes it will be worse on one side than the other. An ice bag definitely helps with the itching! Hope this helps. (I'm very new to this stuff too)

I used to get this rash before going gluten-free. I've been gluten-free for about 6 months and then I got this rash again, first time since going gluten-free. It's not as bad as it used to be and it is only on one side.

I had a little bit on my scalp this week too. Found my DH was sharing my PB & J, didn't know that & couldn't figure out why I was sick and itchy! He felt really bad. I had a problem this spring and that led to a return of the rash in the groin. THat one I finally traced to the syrups I used in my one coffee. We're kind of like detectives, aren't we?

I lived in Flagstaff for 15 years and really miss it, I envy you in AZ.

If this is DH it must be from cc. I help my in-laws quite a bit and there is gluten everywhere. I wash my hands a lot, but it may have been from kissing them.

AZ is nice right now, but I would trade it in the summer! I haven't been to Flag in a long time, but hear that it has really grown.

Looking for help sourcing gluten-free products that do not contain potato or corn derived ingredients. I have other autoimmune conditions (Psoriatic Arthritis and Sjogrens) so I’m looking for prepared foods as I have fatigue and cannot devote a lot of time to baking my own treats.

I am so sorry you're going through this. It's completely understandable to feel frustrated, stressed, and disregarded after such a long and difficult health journey. It's exhausting to constantly advocate for yourself, especially when you're dealing with so many symptoms and positive diagnoses like SIBO, while still feeling unwell. The fact that you have been diligently following the diet without relief is a clear sign that something else is going on, and your doctors should be investigating other causes or complications, not dismissing your very real suffering.

It is just so sad that health care in the United States has come to this.  Health insurance should be available to everyone, not just the healthy or the rich.  My heart goes out to you.  I would not hesitate to have the test and pay for it myself.  My big concern would be how you could keep the results truly private.  I am sure that ultimately, you could not.  A.I. is getting more and more pervasive, and all data is available somewhere.  I don't know if you could give a fake name, or pay for your test with cash.  I certainly would not disclose any positive results on a private insurance application.  As I understand it, for an official diagnosis, an MD needs to review your labs and make the call.  If you end up in the ER, or some other situation, just request a gluten free diet, and say it is because you feel better when you don't eat gluten.      Hang in there, though.  Medicare is not that far away for you, and it will remove a lot of stress from your health care concerns.  You will even be able to "come out of the closet" about being Celiac!

Yes, I've posted a few times about two companies: Request a Test and Ulta Labs. Also, pretty much we can all request any test we want (with the possible exception of the N protein Covid test and I'm sure a couple of others) with Lab Corp (or Pixel by Lab Corp) and Quest. I much prefer Lab Corp for their professionalism, ease of service and having it together administratively, at least in DC. And just so you know, Request a Test uses Lab Corp and Quest anyway, while Ulta Labs uses only Quest. Ulta Labs is cheaper than Request a Test, but I am tired of dealing with Quest, so I don't use them so much.

PS - I think you meant this site, but I don't believe it has been updated in years: http://glutenfreedrugs.com/ so it is best to use: You can search this site for prescriptions medications, but will need to know the manufacturer/maker if there is more than one, especially if you use a generic version of the medication: To see the ingredients you will need to click on the correct version of the medication and maker in the results, then scroll down to "Ingredients and Appearance" and click it, and then look at "Inactive Ingredients," as any gluten ingredients would likely appear there, rather than in the Active Ingredients area. https://dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/
