Red Vines Have Gluten?

Does Red Vines licorice have gluten? I went to the movies, had about 5 pieces, thinking that was ok. By that night, and for the next 2 days, I have had bad D and stomach cramps. Could it have been the licorice?

yes they do!

From the pkg:

"Ingredients: Corn Syrup, Wheat Flour, Citric Acid, Artificial Flavor, Red 40." ... "Allergen Information: Contains Wheat"

I was totally shocked when I saw how they made them on the history channel and saw them dump in a bunch of flour! Who would have guessed?

ah, geez! I didnt even bother to look at the label! my hubby handed it to me, so I assumed he checked! I will have to double check everything!

Most licorice has gluten. Candy Tree does not. I think there is an Orgran brand. It does not. There is also Kookaburra but it's unique in that it has the black licorice flavor even with the red ones.

Yeah I know, what a bummer! I went gluten-free during football season this year and I always keep Twizzlers in my camera bag to munch on during plays. Well, not anymore. I've switched to Starburst!

Going on a cruise next week and I’m a celiac. Bought a bottle of GliandinX. Should I just take two tablets per day as a precaution? Never tried this before!! Any help is appreciated!!

Good point, as thyroid conditions are more common in those with celiac disease: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/celiac-disease-amp-related-diseases-and-disorders/thyroid-pancreatic-disorders-and-celiac-disease/
