Thanks for the great info! My question is regarding ConAgra:

" Some fermented or distilled products, such as vinegar, may be drived from wheat. We suggest that you speak to your physician to determine if you need to avoid distilled products derived from wheat, rye, barley, or oats.

If Natural Flavors, Artificial Flavors, or Spices listed in the ingredients list contained wheat, oat, barley, or rye, these ingredients would be listed in parenthesis immediately following the ingredient. "

So if distilled vinegar is listed in the ingredients, but comes from a gluten source, they don't list wheat/rye/barley/oats, but they do if its a natural/artificial ingredient or spice.

Is distilled vinegar OK?? It's in everything

Rachelle,

Distilled vinegars and alcohol are considered safe regardless of the source. There are a few here, that are very sensitive to even trace amounts of gluten.

I also would think (noted "think"') that companies such as ConAgra would list "distilled vinegar (wheat)" as such.

Not for me. There are some of us that will react. I usually call the company to find out what it is distilled from

I was surprised to see the following in the Hain Celestial statement:

Reading the label is the best way to check for the presence of ingredients which contain gluten. If gluten is an ingredient it is listed separately and not under "natural flavors" or "spices".

In addition, our labeling always declares gluten containing ingredients.

Both major and minor ingredients of all products, as well as all processing procedures and equipment, are closely scrutinized and all potential allergen issues as determined by the Hain Celestial Group are declared on our labeling.

I assume that Rice Dream is still formulated with the barley enzyme so I am questioning their statement.

It can take longer than 6 months for antibodies to drop to the normal range,  My DGP IgA took a few years as I got stricter and stricter about being gluten free  But having symptoms again could also mean you’re getting some gluten in your diet.

Hi, I just had my 6 month check after being diagnosed Celiac 6 months ago.  All of my panel numbers were normal except: Deamidated Gliadin Abs, IgA (It is 31 with high being over 30)  I have also been having symptoms again. Am I not actually being as careful as I think I am or does it take longer than 6 months for this particular test to come back down?  I can't get ahold of my doctor this week as she is out.     Thank you!

That is very strange, because it looks to me like two very different test results, but for the same test! It's definitely time to contact your doctor for clarity on this.

Scott, thank you SO MUCH for this!! She has been through so much in the last three years as we've tried to track down answers. This language will definitely help me help her to reframe.
