Emergen-c All Flavors gluten-free

Hi All!

I Just called the emergen-c company to see if their new lemonaide flavor was gluten-free. I had seen on this site before that only the orange flavor was gluten-free, but I just talked to their customer services and she said that they are ALL flavors are gluten free "containing no wheat, rye, barley or oats".

Pretty cool!

This is correct. I had not seen this post when I just happened to call them today. I called because last year their raspberry flavor said "contains: Wheat" on the ingredient lable.

I was told they thought at that time one of the ingredients was wheat-derived and therefore were required to post it on the ingredient information. They found out they were wrong. Since then, they have conducted a study, researched their suppliers, and confirmed their entire line is gluten-free. In addition they brought in scientists to do gluten testing. There is no chance of cross-contamination and they can say with 100% certainty all their flavors and products are safe.

Their website now states all Emergen-C are gluten-free under their FAQ's section.

Oh that news could not have come sooner - the recent cold(er) weather in the midwest seems to have gotten everyone at work sick.

I just called about Emergen-C Super Orange and learned the same as above, indeed gluten-free.

I learned also that my Super Orange is casein-free and soy-free as well, for those also working on CF and SF.

She did say that some of their products might contain a little soy and that it should say on the packaging if so.

Their phone number is 1.888.425.2362 (Alacer Corp) if you want to double-check your favorite flavor.

I hope this information is still accurate because according to their website they do not actually test the end product. Open Original Shared Link

Are your products free of Gluten?

  • We do not use Gluten during the manufacturing process. However, we are unable to confirm its presence or absence as the end product is not tested for gluten

      So you you ate wheat products every single day for 50 years without a problem but then in the 90's you discovered that wheat was your problem. That's confusing to me. It seems contradictory. Did you have a problem or not?

Being a 6’2” Italian you can imagine what my diet was like and believe me I had an appetite that wouldn’t quit.       I would say two things and then I'm done. Many celiacs have been misdiagnosed for years with IBS. Testing for celiac disease requires regular and significant consumption of gluten for weeks/months in order to be valid.

      Can the rest of your household eat the food with gluten instead of getting rid of it? Can you create one shelf, or partial shelf, for your new food in the pantry, in the fridge and in the cabinets as a start? My husband is not gluten free so we each have a cabinet, and separate shelves in the fridge. If we have to share space the gluten free foods...

I’ve been eating things I’ve longed for for decades and have never felt better.

If we have to share space the gluten free foods go on the upper shelves so crumbs with gluten can’t fall onto them. Good luck!
