Frozen Bread

I bought some Kinnickinick Robin's Honey Brown Rice Bread the other day in the freezer section of Vitamin Cottage. I kept the bread in my freezer. My problem is figuring out how to get just two slices off this frozen block of bread without breaking the slices. Help!

Also, I think this bread has a good flavor, but it has quite a chewy texture. Are all Kinnickinick breads like that? I made a sandwich today by toasting the bread, then spreading mayo on a slice, adding roast beef and shredded cheese, then putting it under my toaster oven's broiler for a minute or so to melt the cheese. Then I topped it off with the other slice with more mayo and yellow mustard. YUM!!!! It was the best sandwich I've had in a long, long time.

Oh, one more bread related question....I met a woman the other night who took some rice bread with her to a deli and had them make her a sandwich on that. Ignoring for a second all the massive contamination issues this could cause, how would one go about heating the bread before making the sandwich? I wouldn't use their toaster obviously. Can you microwave the bread to soften it up?

Thanks!

Elaine

I have been using mostly their english muffins but I remember having issues of how to get a few pieces off!

I just leave it in my fridge. Are you not using it very much? I use their products almopst daily so they just stay there o not get moldy.

If I need some straight from the frezzer I put it in the microwave for a little bit.

I think that frozen bread tastes good when it is toasted. Oops I just relized that I had frozen where toasted is in bold. You guys probably thought I was crazy

I eat these amazing frozen bagels and I just put it in the oven for about 15 mins. on 350, then I take it out and cut it and toast it. I would never bring my bread to a deli or any place for them to make it. When I go to breakfast, I always bring my bread premade and already buttered. They always offer to heat it up, but I never let them because of the cross contamination. :)

I thought you were teasing, Medaka.

Hahahaha.

Elaine,

I only use Kinnickinick bread, and when the loaf gets too stick together this is what I do. First I sort of whack the loaf against the counter. Usually this loosens the slices. If that doesn't work, then I gently separate them with a butter knife. I've never had a problem with the bread breaking this way. Then I microwave the slices for about 30 seconds and toast it. It is the best tasting gluten-free bread I have tried, and I don't mind the chewy texture.

As for having the deli make your sandwich on gluten-free bread, I wouldn't do it personally. And I don't think you would be able to heat up your bread, you would have to either have it soft (and chewy) or cold and hard. Either way it would get contaminated, so it isn't worth it.

God bless,

Mariann

Thanks for all the replies!

Does anyone have opinions on the different flavors of Kinnickinick bread?

I agree that I doubt I'd try the deli, but they do seem to be an allergy friendly place. I plan on going for another salad and scoping it out.

Carrie, I thought you were being a smarty pants when you said you liked your bread frozen! (Meaning you didn't like it at all, regardless of what you did with it.) Glad to know you like it toasted!

Thanks again,

Elaine

My kids favorite Kinnickinick bread is the White Sandwich Bread. My favorite is the Sunflower Flaxseed Bread. The Brown Sandwich Bread is really good too.

I have trouble with nausea. It often starts when I’m anxious about something (home repairs, sick dog) but continues long after the home is repaired or the dog is healthy again. When it happens I eat less and lose weight.  My gastroenterologist suggested ginger or peppermint tea. I don’t know if that will work or not because I haven't had the problem since she suggested it.

Hello  I'm not sure what to think . Seems no matter what I do I get sick. I had some yogurt with only 2 grams of sugar and is labeled gluten free ...the strawberry version seemed to really set me off My jaw is burning as well as my stomach and my feet.  Horrible pain..plus acid reflux and nausea... sensitivity to touch pain. ..yikes !! I don't know if it's from the lactose in the yogurt or if I'm getting an ulcer  This condition can make you question yourself quite a bit.  Then if you are not sure the anxiety comes 😞 Does any of these symptoms sound familiar to anyone? The neuropathy is quite intense.  What do you eat or drink after this happens  Open to suggestions  Thank you

Of course my son is on a 100% gluten free diet.  I wish his symptoms were not debilitating as there are right now.  He cannot work, even when a miniscule of cross contamination occurs.  It's not just GI distress, but intense fatigue, brain fog, depression, anxiety, insomnia, etc.  It's literally neurological inflammation.  Not to be taken lightly here.  We have sought out many other possible ways to cope during this window of time (8 months!!!!)  without success.   AN-PEP does not help and seems like studies on this are not well researched.  So, we are trying this out because research shows some promising results.  And, all participants showed no cravings afterwards, no signs of addiction.  The patch is different than the oral route such as smoking, vaping, gum, pouch, etc.

Have you tried AN-PEP enzymes, for example, GlutenX (who is a sponsor here)? A lot of research has shown that it can break down small amounts of gluten in the stomach, before it reaches the intestines. It might be a better approach than risking nicotine addiction, and the questionable research around this. I also hope that he’s trying to be 100% Gluten-Free.

Hi all  I was diagnosed Coeliac a few years ago and follow a gluten free diet. The list of foods that I can eat without a problem grows shorter on a weekly basis. [I also have diabetes and asthma also].  BUT the reason I am posting this is because I seem to struggle with nausea quite a lot, which is really quite debilitating, and I was wondering if others suffer from nausea, even if following a gluten free diet.
