Keene, NH:

Fritz's Fries: A little college town eatery on main street, offering AMAZING french fries. They just recently got gluten free bread and will make their sandwiches/panini on it. I just had an Italian Stallion, which is italian meat and cheese and it was delicious. approx. $6.50 for a sandwich.

Across the street is a salad joint, I dont know the name. They bake gluten free foccacia and will make salads for you. Focaccia was delicious, comes in two flavors.

Portsmouth, NH

There are MANY chains here, but Popovers on the Square has gluten free sandwiches and deserts. DELICIOUS mousse, though pricy, and boutique grill sandwiches. Very yummy. Located right downtown in the tourist/shopping area.

I posted a couple weeks ago about Popovers on the Square in here as well, I highly recommend it. The gluten-free bread they use for their sandwiches is really good, I keep meaning to go to the Portsmouth Health Food Store to check it out, that is apparently where they get it. It's called Millets Special or something but I don't know the actual brand name, I think it's from a local bakery. Anyways, just thought I'd share.

Fritz's Fries is great, though the type of gluten-free bread they offer changes. They have been getting a delicious baguette from a company in Brattleboro VT called Against the Grain but availability (or deliveries?) has not been consistent. When they don't have the baguette they've been using a white rice bread (can't remember the brand but available on the shelf at grocery stores) that my 4-yo daughter loves grilled with PB&J. They are supposed to use foil on the panini presses to prevent cross -contamination, but a friend suggested you may want to remind them. (They forgot on hers.)

The place across the street is the Keene Fresh Salad Company, and they also offer a gluten-free muffin each day.

Awesome! Thanks for the heads up, I may be looking to moving to keene NH in the future, if not somewhere close to there. Just another reason for me too look forward to it ;).

There is a new restaurant in Portsmouth run by Traci Anello. The cafe is entirely gluten-free. She used to have a little bakery in Wells ME and opened the one in Portsmouth very recently. This is the website: Open Original Shared Link I haven't been there personally since I live in NYC but the bakery in Wells was a little piece of heaven, and I am sure the new cafe is great. She does mail order of her focaccia roll mix and baked goods.

Yes! This place is fantastic. I did post about this joint a few months ago, anybody searching for threads under my name should find it. Highly recommended.

Yay! and we're heading that way for the 4th. Thanks for the reminder! I stopped by Anello's in Wells last summer, but they were closed. Peered through the window and haven't stopped thinking of lemon bars since.

      In this case the beer is excellent, but for those who are super sensitive it is likely better to go the full gluten-free beer route. Lakefront Brewery (another sponsor!) has good gluten-free beer made without any gluten ingredients.

      Welcome to the forum, @catsrlife! Celiac disease can be diagnosed without committing to a full-blown "gluten challenge" if you get a skin biopsy done during an active outbreak of dermatitis herpetiformis, assuming that is what is causing the rash. There is no other known cause for dermatitis herpetiformis so it is definitive for celiac disease. You would need to find a dermatologist who is familiar with doing the biopsy correctly, however. The samples need to be taken next to the pustules, not on them . . . a mistake many dermatologists make when biopsying for dermatitis herpetiformis.

      You state in an earlier post that you don't have celiac disease. Here in this post you state you will "be doing another test". What will this test be looking for? What kind of celiac disease testing have you had done? If you have used a Entero Labs it sounds like you have had stool testing done for celiac disease which is not widely accepted as a valid celiac disease diagnostic testing method. Have you had blood antibody testing for celiac disease done and do you realize that for antibody testing to be valid you must have been eating generous amounts of gluten for a period of weeks/months?

      No, I've not been diagnosed as celiac.  Despite Entero Labs being relocated to Switzerland/Greece, I'll be doing another test. After eating wheat products in Greece for 4 weeks, there wasn't any reaction.  However, avoiding it here in the states.   Thanks everyone for your responses.
