Slow Hair Growth

Does anyone know if slow hair growth can be a sign of celiac? Along with that goes slow to lose teeth and of course slow body growth. I am noticing today that my dd's hair is hardly growing and her hair took forever to grow in as a baby/toddler. I have trimmed my 7 yr old's bangs 3 times and have not had to trim my 6 yr old's bangs at all. Plus she finally has 2 loose teeth. She's 6.5 yrs old. Her sister lost teeth at age 5. They both have gluten issues but the 6 yr old is the one with the major problems.

Thanks!

I don't know about the teeth. But hair is definately a sign. My son lost all of his hair at age 2 (almost 3) just as we were figuring out he had celiac. It was horrible. Anyway, going gluten free allowed for him to become nourished again and 14 months later he has lots of hair and a second layer is now growing in too. Going gluten-free I began to grow extra hair along my hairline. My husband and I used to joke about how much I used to shed and now I don't shed much (just the usual amount everyone does). Hair growth is effected by iron, fat and protien. Going gluten free allows for your body to get this from your food and lets your hair grow. Make sure she is gluten-free (it is a tricky diet) and my other suggestion would be to take Cod Liver Oil - it has good fats for your heart and is known to be good for brain, skin and hair. Good luck, Heather

Thank you for your reply! I look forward to seeing if being gluten free helps her hair! She has been gluten-free for 5 or so months. Also, we just started up the oils (I got her to take 1 coromega a day) so maybe this will help too!

That would make sense to me, but I can't honestly say yes. The reason I say that I suspect my son of having celiac disease (recently posted a topic of my own), and he is six and hasn't even had a loose tooth yet. My friend's daughter lost one a month before she started kindergarten. He was a pretty late teether, though. We haven't experienced and hair growth/loss problems, though. I do know it can cause eczema, though many allergies can as well.

I’m having this type of MRI this afternoon,  What specifically do you want to know?  From what I’ve read, not all facilities use the same drink prep.

Hi I've been told I need a MRI on my bowels , I was booked for a colonoscopy, but because of my sever back issues and trapped nerve it can't be done , the nurse told me I will have to have a manitol drink a hour before the scan , I'm just a bit worried has I have issues with sweeteners like even a little,  I get a weird throat and ears and I've read it is a similar substance , not sure if anyone has had one of these scans or could give me some advise on the drink prep thanks in advance 😄

Hi all ! Can a celiac attack be so intense that it causes your entire body to work in reverse? Meaning really bad pain,  neuropathy and muscle,  jaw pain,  the stomach issues , Horrible anxiety and confusion??  I had a Tums and you would think I ate poison. My jaw and stomach did not like it . Not the norm for me. Things that are simple are just out of control. Anyone ever have this happen??  I'm trying to figure out what I ate or did to bring on a celiac like attack. I had an idea before but yesterday I didn't have any gluten unless it was in a medication ?! Any positive suggestions ??  Thank you

The following two lists are very helpful for anyone who is gluten sensitive and needs to avoid gluten when shopping. It's very important to learn to read labels and understand sources of hidden gluten, and to know some general information about product labelling--for example in the USA if wheat is a possible allergen it must be declared on a product's ingredient label like this: Allergens: Wheat.
