Does anyone have experience in Nanaimo, BC with eating at restaurants safely or where there are good places to shop gluten free. Thanks

Karen

No experience yet but I will be going to Nanaimo in the summer/fall so let me know what you find out. I was in Vancouver and Victoria last spring and the fairmont hotels in those cities have chefs that are unbeleivably knowledgeable and accommodating. These hotels stock gluten free bread as well.

There is a Swiss Chalet there but all I ordered was a baked potato with Sour Cream. The service wasn't that great there although there was a huge group of us. Somebody called ahead and told them that there would be a big group of us so they should have put more staff on. On Swiss Chalet's website it does list the products that contain gluten.

Hi Karen I live in Nanaimo too and have found it very difficult to eat out. I will let you know if I find a good place to have a gluten free meal.

Just thought I should mention....before you eat sour cream you should check the ingredients. Some sour cream has gluten in it. I found an organic sour cream at Lifestyles in Victoria that has no additives and is not modified. Watch out for those ingredients that state they are modified. :)

If you have hemorrhoids 1x weekly I don't see how you have time to heal from one episode before you experience another one, unless each one is a very minor event. Have you consulted a physician about your hemorrhoid issue? It's not normal to be having an episode every week unless it is really one episode that is not completely healing between weekly flareups.

No I haven't had one since 2021. I rarely have more than 1 per week.

Sorry, I see that now as I reread your original post. You say you have hemorrhoids "only once a week" now. When I develop hemorrhoids, which is once every few years now, it generally takes 3-4 days for healing to take place. So, it doesn't seem like you could have much relief time between episodes if you have them weekly. Have you had a lower GI scoping done recently?

Everyday I eat a medium to large apple in the morning and a large banana at night. I eat a cup of oatmeal in the evening. The ezekiel wheat bread I eat has a good amount of fiber. I haven't dealt with constipation for at least a year. Most of the time my feces are soft.
