Forbidden City Bistro

Have now eaten 2x at Forbidden City Bistro on Main St in Middletown CT. Basically a quite nice Chinese (with some other asian influences) restaurant, they also have a bar you can eat at and they do take out. They can handle gluten-free very well for a Chinese restaurant. And they have a nice wine list :)

The first time we were there (2 months ago or so) we barely called ahead, and I was able to choose from at least 2 or 3 entrees that would be easy to be gluten-free with no notice.

Yesterday we were there with a dining group that had a pre-set menu. I called ahead 4 days ago, the person who answered the phone was familiar with the intended menu and said they would be able to accommodate me no problem, and make sure to identify myself when I got there.

So, several dishes I had with no sauce, and one was served to me as a lettuce wrap while others had a pancake. All in all a very tasty experience. They even have some asian 100% rice noodles - wow! They brought "my" dishes first so it was clear I was getting the right plate.

The next time we go I think I will bring some gluten-free tamari or gluten-free soy sauce with me, or ask for some from the kitchen (if I've called far enough ahead). But all in all a very successful outing!

The Lindt (Lindor) dairy-free oat milk truffles are definitely gluten-free, and (last time I checked) so are the white chocolate truffles and the mint chocolate truffles.

I've used magnesium taurinate and magnesium taurate vitamins.  Didn't notice much of a difference when I used them.

More great tips, and a good excuse to shop at M&S and also buy more iced buns!   I wish we had an ASDA near us, as the few times we've been to one their gluten-free pasta range seemed very reasonably priced compared to other shops.  Thanks so much, @Russ H.
