Any one used Lac Three or Primal Defence in knocking out Candida? I have a been diagnosed yeast allergy as well as gluten. I'm going to start to eat less sugars (Candida Diet) in addition to the gluten-free diet. Any one else, suffer with Candida (yeast allergy) and can offer advice? Do Probiotics help or is the diet enough? -

Also in info on the reliabilty of this test:

I do have a yeast allergy (York Labs +2) but thought this to be an interesting double witness.

THANKS TO ALL!

I have candida in the small intestine and I use Nystatin. I was never on the candida diet just the gluten free. I do take probiotics which seem to also help.

I also recommend you getting on enzymes and a good liquid vitamin.

If you ever need any help or recommendations feel free to contact me or just ask anyone on the board...they are all great :D

I also have a yeast allergy, but I don't quite understand. Does testing positive for a yeast allergy indicate that you have candida? I had an appointment with my GI last week, and he told me that he thought that it was possible that I have bacterial overgrowth, but didn't mention anything about candida. He prescribed Flagyl for 20 days, and told me to continue with the prescription enzymes-Ultrase. I have kind of been ignoring this yeast thing, since I am already trying to be gluten and dairy free. It sounds like it is time that I learn more about it!

Candida can cause similar symptoms of celiac...so if you have still been having trouble especially you may want to look into it.

Probiotics, enzymes, and vitamins( I prefer liquid) are good to take :D

If you need more info just contact me

I was never checked for any other allergies. How and what do I need to ask for?

Thanks

I was dx with systemic candida overgrowth at least 2 years before I was dx with celiac. I tried the candida diet, but I don't really feel like giving up sugar too! I take an herbal supplement Yeast Cleanse by Solaray, and I'm going to try a product called Isotonix, it's digestive enzymes with probiotics, it is gluten free and says so right on the label. I bought it from my brother in law who is a dist. for Market America.

Sally: I highly recomend York Labs

I have used them as have so many others on this forum, including my mother and brother. Excellent easy test for many foods.

Kaiti: What is the difference between probioticsa and enzymes? Do you have a fav? Why?

Nini: Let me know how things progress. Also I have heard that you only need to leave sugar out for a month to "starve the yeast out". Makes sense to me, if the fungus lives off sugar then it must be taken out or destroyed.

THANKS FOLKS! and remember Christ is King!

Probiotic bacteria favorably alter the intestinal microflora balance, inhibit the growth of harmful bacteria, promote good digestion, boost immune function, and increase resistance to infection.Probiotic bacteria also produce substances called bacteriocins, which act as natural antibiotics to kill undesirable microorganisms.

Enzymes help with digestion and so forth. I think taking both of them will be beneficial for you.

I take both of these I think they are both essential in their own ways.

Kaiti: What do you think of Culturelle?

I agree with @trents, but thank you for bringing this up here!

Hi @trents, yes I've had my levels checked in Dec 2025 which revealed vit D deficiency. I considered eggs although they only contain about 45 IU vitamin D/egg. I need 2000 IU vitamin D for maintenance as per my doctor. Although now, I likely need way more than that to treat the deficiency. My doctor has yet to advise me on dosing for deficiency. I've also considered cod liver oil, although again, if it's processed in a facility that has gluten, especially on flour form, I worried to test it, even if they have protocols in place to mitigate cross-contamination with gluten.

Welcome to celiac.com, @Jane02! Have you had your serum D levels checked for deficiency/sufficiency? What about cod liver oil? Egg yolks can also be a good source of vitamin D.

Hello, I'm very discouraged. I've been trying to find a safe vitamin mineral supplement brand for months and am tired of testing one after the other and experiencing my typical 'glutening' reactions. I'm really feeling the nutritional deficiencies set in. I'm doing the best I can to get these nutrients from my food, although it's impossible for me to intake enough vitamin D as I can't have dairy and have insufficient sun exposure in the northern hemisphere. I've tried B Complex from Country Life (certified gluten-free) - horrible reaction. I've tried Metagenics vitamin D tab (certified glute-free) - bad reaction. I've tried liquid vitamin D Thorne and D Drops - reactions were mild since I tried a drop of a drop. I understand there could be other things I'm reacting to in my diet, although my diet/intake is pretty consistent with minimal variables so I do think it's something in these supplements. I understand I could be reacting to the active ingredient vitamin/mineral itself or even the filler ingredients. I tried the vitamin D drops since the only filler ingredient is coconut oil, in some brands, which I know I can tolerate really well on its own - I cook with coconut oil frequently and have no 'glutening' reactions at all. Perhaps I'm reacting to the vitamin D itself, although I eat fatty fish every few days, an entire fillet with no 'glutening' reactions, which contains anywhere between 400-600 IU per fillet so I shouldn't be sensitive to vitamin D. All this to say, I'm desperately looking for at least a safe vitamin D supplement. Does anyone know of a safe vitamin D supplement brand? I'd love to know if there are any supplement brands that have absolutely no gluten (especially in flour form) in their facilities. I've heard of Kirkman having no grains in their facility - I may try this brand. Has anyone reacted to this brand?

Welcome to the celiac.com communiuty, @Matthias! Yes, we have been aware that this can be an issue with mushrooms but as long as they are rinsed thoroughly it should not be a problem since the mushrooms don't actually incorporate the gluten into their cellular structure. For the same reason, one needs to be careful when buying aged cheeses and products containing yeast because of the fact that they are sometimes cultured on gluten-containing substrate.
