Hi everybody!!

I am 7.5 months pregnant & i keep losing weight...i have gained 4 lbs so far in my pregnancy and i struggle to keep that on !! she informed me that my baby is very small & we will need to do an ultrasound every to weeks to monitor him closely...my OBGYN is very frustrated ...she send me to a Dietition 2 months ago...nothing has been diaganosed....2 weeks ago she wondered if i may have Celiac Disease...but has not done any test to find out ???

Last week my OBGYN got results back from blood work i had done ...it showed that my malnutrition level is 34 ( Malnutrition levels are 36 - 48 )which she informed me i am border line.

I have had bloating for years & constipation ( i hate eating my stomach hurts so bad afterwards ...however i do for my baby ) ..i also have fatty liver ...i have acid reflux for yrs , severe arthritis, tingling in my hand & numbness , my menstrual periods have been irregular for a very long time ...i have 2 cousins that have Celiac Disease which is herederity! I really think this is what i have ????

I am very frustrated and wonder why the Dr's have not figured this out yet ??

Can somebody offer some serious advice ????? https://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/style_em...default/sad.gif

Try going on a gluten-free diet and see the results. You have a family history, so, it's worth a shot!

this is a tricky situation - if you want a medical diagnosis, you need to have formal testing, which means you need to continue eating wheat. but that will not help you gain weight if you do have it - which is certainly possible. it's a decision you'll have to make: try the diet for empiric evidence and the chance of being able to gain weight and absorb nutrients, and decide if you want to go back on gluten for three months later, or try to get tested right away (this week) for at least blood tests, and then go gluten free. (I'd do the former, but that's me, and I don't care about having a formal medical diagnosis.)

I got my liver test last month and it was in normal range. Two years ago I did have a vitamin D deficiency but I'm know taking vitamin D3 pills. Last month I got my vitamin D checked and it was in normal range. I don't believe I've had my choline checked. However, I do drink almond milk eat Greek yogurt on a daily basis.

Non-Celiac Gluten Sensitivity (NCGS) can be associated with low ferritin and iron deficiency. Once Celiac Disease (1% of the population affected) has been ruled out by tests the next step is to check for Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity (10% of the population affected) by eliminating gluten for a trial period, then re-introduce Gluten Challange. Have you been supplementing Iron? How are your liver enzymes? Low levels of ferritin indicate iron deficiency, while  59% transferrin saturation indicates high iron levels.  Possibly indicating Fatty Liver Disease.  Choline is crucial for liver health, and deficiency is a known trigger for Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver.  Some experts say that less than 10% eat the the Food and Nutrition Board established Adequate Intake that are based on the prevention of liver damage. Severe constipation and hemorrhoids may be linked to a bile or choline deficiency.  "Ninety-five percent of phospholipids (PLs) in bile is secreted as phosphatidylcholine or lecithin."  Fatty acid composition of phospholipids in bile in man   Deficiency of these bile salts causes the bile to get thick. Some people with Celiac Disease are misdiagnosed with Gall Bladder bile issues.  Removal of the gallbladder provides only temporary relief. Whether or not celiac disease or NCGS are your issues you need to look at your vitamin D blood level.

      Thanks for your input.

If you have hemorrhoids 1x weekly I don't see how you have time to heal from one episode before you experience another one, unless each one is a very minor event. Have you consulted a physician about your hemorrhoid issue? It's not normal to be having an episode every week unless it is really one episode that is not completely healing between weekly flareups.

No I haven't had one since 2021. I rarely have more than 1 per week.
