Hi All:

I am trying to track down food allergies/intolerances beyond Celiac, and have some very basic, rookie questions.

When people say they have soy allergies/intolerance that means

Soy refers to any product derived from the soy plant, not just whole beans. Soybeans are processed into many forms.

David, if you believe you have a problem with soy, you should avoid anything that has that word in the label; also hydrolysed vegetable protein which is usually soy. Edamame beans are fresh soy beans, soya lecithin is also soy, but just to confuse matters some soy intolerant people can eat this; I can't. It is used as an emulsifier in most chocolate. :(

Intolerances can manifest themselves in a variety of ways; soy makes me break out in a red itchy rash. Other people have gastro symptoms with it.

Good luck on your detective work :)

If you have hemorrhoids 1x weekly I don't see how you have time to heal from one episode before you experience another one, unless each one is a very minor event. Have you consulted a physician about your hemorrhoid issue? It's not normal to be having an episode every week unless it is really one episode that is not completely healing between weekly flareups.

No I haven't had one since 2021. I rarely have more than 1 per week.

Sorry, I see that now as I reread your original post. You say you have hemorrhoids "only once a week" now. When I develop hemorrhoids, which is once every few years now, it generally takes 3-4 days for healing to take place. So, it doesn't seem like you could have much relief time between episodes if you have them weekly. Have you had a lower GI scoping done recently?

Everyday I eat a medium to large apple in the morning and a large banana at night. I eat a cup of oatmeal in the evening. The ezekiel wheat bread I eat has a good amount of fiber. I haven't dealt with constipation for at least a year. Most of the time my feces are soft.
