Feeling The "glutened" Symptoms

Does anyone know for a fact that CC can make someone very ill as though they just ingested a heavy load of gluten? I mean does it really only take a small particle of gluten to make someone bloat and have all of the gastro symptoms? I am having the same symptoms I had before going gluten-free 15 days ago - and it leads me to believe that I have had something that wasn't gluten-free within the last day or so. I just bought a box of Trix cereal yesterday after reading they were gluten-free. Could this be the culprit? I feel the cramping, fatigue, fogginess that I always had before when I wasn't gluten-free. My stomach feels as though it is in knots and I just feel awful. grrrrrrr.

The only think I had this morning was a carmel flavored coffee at the local coffee shop and liquid coffeemate cream in it.

Last night I had a bowl of the trix, a turkey burger pattty plain, and some deboles rice pasta boiled with a little land of lakes butter on it and kraft parmasean cheese.

For lunch yesterday I had some plain white rice and some purdue chicken cuts that were clearly labeled "gluten free" on the box (was a blue box at Walmart...I think it was purdue but definitely say the words "gluten free" on it.

It is either the carmel flavored coffee or the trix. Everything else has been gluten-free. I really hate this feeling :( I have been so careful and assumed that the coffee shop would only use whole beans which wouldnt have gluten.

I would strongly suspect the Trix, the coffee, and possibly the chicken. I had no idea that Trix was a gluten-free product..is that a recent development? Mainstream food companies have high potential for product cross contamination because they produce so mnay different products on the same production line. They clean the production lines in between runs but if you are sensitive, all it takes is a drop of gluten to cause a reaction. I have read that some (not all) chicken can have CC if the manufacturer produces other "seasoned or breaded products" in the same facility. You may have been affected by both. Many Flavored coffees also contain gluten. Non-dairy creamers also contain ingredients that can cause GI upset (I was affected by these years ago). If you enoy cream in gluten-free coffee, I would recommend using Pacific Brand rice milk (it is lactose free and gluten-free).

On the back of my honey roasted Purdue ShortCuts it says "gluten free". HOWEVER, the boil-in-bag rice I thought would be safe because it is white rice was actually "processed in a facility that has wheat, Soy, and Milk in it". It was the WalMart brand whit boil in bag rice. I assumed all white rice would be safe and only have "rice" in it!! As far as Trix - they do not say "gluten free", however the ingredients list does not contain any ingredients that say anything related to wheat, barley, or rye - or gluten for that matter.

Looks like I may have to go back to only eating Grilled chicken I make at home again :( I always try and google stuff before I eat anything (I have a blackberry so am able to do a quick search), but I'm getting mixed results sometimes. I read that Mcd's fries were gluten-free - and now - after eating them - I see they aren't!!!

I really suck at this diet!

Sorry for ranting. It's just more difficult that I thought with the hidden things. I really cannot afford 7.00 crackers and bread when Im a single mother of two. I really just need to find safe mainstream foods my body can handle.

I haven't had Trix in a while, well not in the last 7 years anyway. Were oats listed on the box, they are another concern as some will react even to the certified gluten free variety. Another strong suspect would be the coffe you had. In addition if the it is wise to avoid products 'products produced in the same facility as gluten' the chances of CC are high. IF walmart products are gluten free it will say so on the box and you won't see the 'made in' warning.

Your feelings are totally normal and I have felt your pain and frustration (I still take one day at a time). After suffering repeated "glutenings", I found myself eating mainly unprocessed food. The only safe snack product I eat is called RiceWorks brown rice chips (plain with sea salt). You can find them at Costco or Wal-mart. There are so many products that are produced in a "shared facility" like you mentioned about the rice. I stay away from all "shared facility products" because of my extreme sensitivity. I would be leary of trix.....Uncle Ben's white & brown rice are supposed to be safe.

If you start with the basics, meat, fresh veggies, gluten-free rice and Organic fruit, gluten-free rice milk (Note:Regular fruit like apples, oranges, lemons, bell peppers, limes is sprayed with a a waxy coating that may contain gluten), and slowly add one new gluten-free processed item every week, it will help you rule out any gluten that may sneak in through Cross Contamination (if you see yourself suffering from a reaction). Have you switched to all gluten-free cosmetic products yet?? This can be a oommon culprit too.

From my personal experience (and everyone is different), I cannot eat most mainstream food or I suffer for several days. There are only a few items I can eat that are mainstream.

      Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

      I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

      Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
