Okay, so I posted another topic "Another who needs help with results" or something like that. I received a few very helpful tips from some members. One member asked which lab processed my blood work. In my search to help me understand my blood test results, I didn't even think to go on the the lab's website to see if they had any information. Well....in my search for Quest labs, I cam accross another lab's website. If you paste the following link into your browser: Open Original Shared Link and then go to page two, there is an easy to read chart to help you understand your results. I tested IgA deficient, and negative for two other tests, but my doctor did not perform the last two tests. Her response to my results were "there are anti-bodies present, but it was low so it's negative." and couldn't look at me. I don't think she knows exactly what she is talking about, but maybe taking this chart to her will help her understand.

Also, I found Quest lab's website and was able to find lots of information to help me understand the tests that are performed in a celiac panel. Some useful links I found on their website were:

Thanks for posting that! I had a similar situation with my doc, she didn't understand that having an IgA deficiency would skew all the IgA tests. And she didn't run the IgG version, either.

I wish I knew then what I know now! It would've been a lot easier.

Wow, I'm so sorry you had to deal with that. I see you have been gluten free as of November 2007. Is that when they did test you for the IgG? Or did you decide to go gluten free because you knew that gluten was causing your problems?

      Thoughts? Non-endoscopic Celiac diagnosis in two year old

      Okay that is really good to know. So with that being positive and the other being high it makes sense she diagnosed her even without the endoscopy. So glad we caught it early. She had so many symptoms though that to me it was clear something was wrong. yeah I think we had better test us and the other kids as well.

      One doctor suggested it, but then seemed irritated when I asked follow-up questions. Oh well—

      @GlorietaKaro, your respiratory reactions to gluten make me wonder if there might also be an allergic (anaphylaxis) component at work here.

Sadly, even after several years of very strict gluten avoidance, I remember the symptoms well enough that I am too frightened to risk a gluten challenge— heartbeat and breathing problems are scary— Scott, thank you for the specific information— I will call around in the new year to see if I can find anyone. In the meantime, I will carry on has I have been— it’s working! Thanks also for the validation— sometimes I just feel crushed by disbelief. Not enough to make me eat gluten though—
