Contact Lens Solution For Sensitive Eyes?

Hello....

I was wondering what contact lens solution you use (gluten free of course)?

Also, I have Multiple Chemical Sensitivity. I have been using Opti-Free Express Lasting Comfort solution and it makes my eyes bloodshot and sting. So, not good. I was wondering if a more natural contact lens solution made for sensitive individuals exists? I would like to avoid wearing my nerdy glasses or getting Lasik surgery if possible :P Thanks!

The doc I work for always recommends Opti-Free Refresh. As a rule, our patients like it.

I use clear care (the kind with the little bottle that bubbles to clean the lenses). I then use the solution left over after they are cleaned in the bottle to put the contacts in. My Dr. suggested this, she said that the solution left over is the purest there is. I can't use any kind of OTC rewetting dropps or saline, makes me break out horribly in and around my eye.

Is there really a possibility of contact solution having gluten-derived ingredients? That seems odd to me, but I definitely could be wrong.

According to the doc I work for, no. None of the eye drops he recommends, nothing in the office contains gluten. I do not use contacts, but I do have dry eyes, and nothing I have used has bothered me..Systane, Refresh Liquigel, Pantenol...nothing.

Some people do react to different solutions, but it's not gluten.

      @N00dnutt, been there, done that! Cheers!

      @trents You're right, thanks for pointing that out. On @somethinglikeolivia comment regarding potential ingesting or cross contamination; there is a product marketed in Australia as "GluteGuard" which is designed for just this scenario. It is not a defence for and is not recommended for use by full-blown celiac disease but, it helps those with GI. I'll be reading slower in future so I don't skim over the subject matter. Cheers.

      @Knitty_Kitty Noted with appreciation.

      @N00dnutt, as OP explained earlier, she had a gastroscopy done earlier while she had been eating plenty of gluten for months. It was negative despite strong positive antibody scores.

      The best way to determine positively is to undergo a Gastroscope. Your Endocrinologist will assess the condition of your "Villi". These tenticles are what extract the nutrient from what we ingest. The Protein in Gluten is like acid to these tenticles.
