Excessive Burping?

I've been gluten-free for over a year and am mostly symptom free, but have been having a problem with burping for a few months. I am definitely not ingesting any gluten, I am obsessively careful and nothing has really changed in my diet. Any ideas about what could be causing it or how to fix it?

Burping can be caused by a slew of different things and most of the time, gas it common.

Some benign causes include: swallowing air while eating or drinking, fiber can also gas due to the fermentation of bacteria - especially prebiotic fiber such as the kind found in bananas and oats. Eating too fast, chewing gum, and probiotics will also usually results in burping.

One instance where there actually may be a problem is: maldigestion or malabsorption of food - fats are usually the culprit in this case since they are the most complicated to break down and absorb. Other culprits include sugar - the big ones here are fructose and lactose.

So for the most part I would say gas is very common, especially for recovering Celiacs. You may also want to look into digestive enzymes, those have helped me a lot with fats.

Excessive burping for me is a definite sign of trace gluten contamination. I have to avoid a lot of those gluten free foods.

      I eat a lot of dairy but its intermittent is this burning so I would assume it would happen all the time. Plus I have been tested for lactose intolerance  etc and I am fine and the other symptoms of that I don't get. As a aside  my dad died last month after a long illness so I wonder if the stress of that might be a influence as a bodily reaction to stress.

      You should be fine.  You may start feeling better within a few days.  Someone who is very low in thiamine may notice improvement within hours.   Did you get the NeuroMag  or another magnesium supplement?

      Yes Bobs redmill cgf oatmeal I started when I became gluten-free. So taking all 3 with breakfast should work? Will I notice any reactions getting used to these or should I be fine. Thanks

      Hello, @pilber309, welcome to the forum! Are you currently consuming dairy?   You mentioned something about lots of yogurt and cheese, but did you cut it out or are you eating lots of it?   Could you clarify please? Some people with Celiac react to casein, the protein in dairy the same as to gluten with antibodies and villi damage.
