Spinning In Too Much Information

Is anyone else overwhelmed with all the info out there on GI disorders? I don't know what to eat anymore: There is so much conflicting info at times. I love tea, but I just read that the caffeine may not be such a good thing to heal the gut yet I also know that tea is allowed for celiacs.

I think that I would benefit from some sort of a fast/elimination diet so that my gut can heal (I think I have some IBS due to excessive bowel movements), but there is just too much information out there. Can anyone recommend one that is easy to do that also excludes dairy, in addition to gluten?

My GI tract is also very sensitive, I just avoid gluten and lactose and limit sugar intake. In general, I eat fruits, veggies, rice, peanut butter, gluten-free bread, gluten-free corn chips, gluten-free french fries, beans, gluten-free soy milk, and rice noodles. That is my "diet".

I have been having good days and bad days. On bad days, I look at new and different things that I might have ate during the day which may have caused the problem. Since I have been having "good" days (which is great progress for me!), I have noticed that my stomach tends to get upset when I eat a lot of sugar. Hope this helps.

My best suggestion is to keep it simple. Find a set of basic guidelines that work for you and stick with them. Expand them later as you learn more and are able to absorb more info.

I can't remember the site, but there's a very basic elimination diet that eliminates all but about a dozen foods - I think you can have lamb and sweet potatoes?. It's HARD, and I had to modify it a bit, but it's a place to start. At the very least, any elimination diet you try should eliminate ALL of the eight common food allergens.

      As far as I know and I have made severalonline searches, celiac disease disease has not been recognized as a cause of migraines or any eye problems. What I wrote must have been confusing.

      Interesting, when I suffered for a few months with ectopics I noticed that carbohydrates would cause indigestion and bloating in my stomach, then that would lead to my heart skipping beats, and I could feel it in my throat, it was very unsettling.  My last serious bout of this was after eating a Muller Rice Pudding for breakfast.   I happened to be wearing a 48 hour halter at the time and cardiology picked it up, but they weren't worried about what they saw. There was some British doctor who'd made some videos on the Vagus nerve that I remember watching at the time which made sense of what I was experiencing, there did seem to be some sort of connection.

      I asked my cardiologist about stopping vitamins.  He said his tests account for all detectable vitamins from sources other than food.  I only need to stop them for a couple of days.  He has me keep records of meds and vitamins I've ingested over the past 10 days and prior and he does his calculations.

      Reply to treats I try and eat to bring up the glucose. Sometime I get up 3 times a night and eat something. I don't think food is the issue. A lot of the food they say should help doesn't.  Many mornings my level is 59 and I feel sick, sometimes for hours. It has been recommended I go to an Endocrinologist.
